A fascinating historic house with Tudor origins and Victorian rooms, set in 35 acres of beautiful grounds, housing the amazing collections of the late Denys Eyre Bower - Japanes armour, swords and lacquerware

We're hiring! Are you an experienced Bookkeeper looking for a part time time role?

Chiddingstone Castle is seeking a new team member to work in this unique and historic setting. The role requires proficiency in Sage 50 Accounts and strong organisational skills to manage financial records across the estate.

21 hours per week (3 full days or 4 days flexible to school hours if required) Salary of £17,400 per annum.

Summer holiday trail maps are on sale until 31st August. £2pp, collect a treat at the end once you have solved all the clues. Do the extension questions and head into the village too! £1 from the sale of every map goes to Chiddingstone Castle Youth Club. The mystery of the sword in the lake! Our woodland team made this amazing discovery whilst attempting to remove some dead branches from the lake during the Summer drought. What an amazing surprise!

The lake was created in the 1800s and there are several theories on how the sword came to be there. BBC Kent interviewed our curator Naomi Collick to hear her thoughts. See the full BBC Kent article here.
