We are getting excited here at The Novium Museum, because ‘ChichestHER’ officially opens TOMORROW!

To celebrate, we are sharing some sneak peeks from the exhibition before the grand opening.

Come along this Saturday 17 October from 10am when the museum opens to be among the first to discover the stories of the women who have helped shape Chichester District, past and present.

‘ChichestHER’ is the culmination of a two-year project made possible thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund which awarded the project a grant of £117,266.

🎞️ We are delighted that students from Chichester College have produced five short animations for our upcoming ‘ChichestHER’ exhibition

Staff from The Novium Museum introduced second year Illustration and Design students to the remarkable women celebrated in ‘ChichestHER’ and asked them to develop animation ideas to tell these women’s stories with the support of Millstream Productions.

We think the students have done a fantastic job at bringing the women’s stories to life, and we can’t wait for the animations to be seen when the exhibition opens this Saturday 17 October.

We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Development Officer (Income Generation and Events) to join our team and play a vital role delivering high quality events and venue hire while helping to embed commercial thinking within the organisation.

Working closely with colleagues across our service, you will play a key role in planning and developing a lively and welcoming programme of events at our sites, helping to meet income targets and grow audience numbers. You will be the first point of contact for venue hire enquiries, providing a warm, professional service and proactively converting interest into confirmed bookings. You’ll coordinate, organise and manage events and weddings end-to-end, ensuring smooth logistics, safe operations and memorable experiences for clients, guests and visitors.

⭐To celebrate the opening of the ‘ChichestHER’ exhibition at The Novium Museum, the University of Chichester are showcasing a small exhibition of photographs and archival materials related to women in the University’s history.

This free display can be found in the Special Collections Room on the 2nd Floor of the Library/Learning Resource Centre on the Chichester Campus until 23 December.

🚌Bring The Novium Museum to your school with a Virtual Field Trip!

Developed especially for schools, The Novium Museum’s virtual field trips are full of interactive cross-curricular activities that are perfect as a kick-start for a new topic.

Suitable for KS1 and KS2, The Novium Museum offers five different virtual field trips that cover Stone Age to Iron Age, Toys and Games and Roman Britain.

👉Virtual field trips can be hired for one week. Resource boxes will need to be collected from and returned to The Novium Museum.

🏛️ Discover The Guildhall in Chichester’s Priory Park 🏛️

Our next Guildhall open morning is Thursday 1 October!

See inside this incredible Grade I listed building and explore centuries of history.

Open to the public from 10:00 am - 11:30am on the first Thursday of every month, The Guildhall has been the site of fascinating events over its time.

Built by the Franciscans in the 1270s, this historic site witnessed the trials of the infamous Hawkhurst Gang of smugglers and the artist and poet William Blake. It later served as Chichester’s town hall and museum.

Entry is free, with donations welcomed.
