🌗 🌞 After having the LUNAR eclipse earlier this week and the SOLAR eclipse just before that, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate an epic couple of weeks at the end of a hot hot summer full of fun science adventures at , before the rain finally came!!

So we have two little gifts for you... 🎁🎁

🚀 What a special week we have had! A massive shout-out to the brilliant team from Cambridge Consultants who took over one of our classrooms this week, for our first week of Summer in the Park... bringing endless enthusiasm, cutting-edge innovation and hands-on tech to our young visitors! 🔬✨

From coding LEGO Mindstorms and operating hydraulic robot arms to exploring adaptive Tetris and seeing how AI assists in protein design, they helped children unlock their inner 'STEM superpowers'.

It seems the CC team had blast too, sharing their passion, sporting their specially-made, branded t-shirts, and proving without doubt that inspiring the next generation is completely contagious!

Discover the team's personal highlights and - if you missed all the fantastic fun - discover some exclusive science trivia you can share at home!

🚌 We know Cambridge is all about the bikes, but as you’ve been cycling, walking, running or motoring around our beautiful City and beyond - in fact on transport routes all around Cambridgeshire and Greater Peterborough - have you spotted us on the BUSES?!

Give us a thumbs up if you've seen our campaign on many wheels? 👍 👍🏾👍🏼👍🏽

Even better if you could comment on where you spotted us, if you can remember?! 💭

Ideas of what’s going on here.. ?! I
We are preparing for what might be the most dramatic solar eclipse in 3 decades, happening tomorrow (Wednesday) around 7pm’ish. 🌒

Last week, Mario dug out some planetary props from storage to take our Centre at Cambridge Science Park, ahead of some Solar Eclipse fun we have in the pipeline.

Science Communicator Francesca has put together a pop-up learning stop, with an Eclipse Factsheet - so you can learn curious facts about this very special moment.

Meanwhile Mario himself is in Majorca with some of our other Science Communicators! They are hoping to be some of the last people in Europe to see an almost complete eclipse. Safe to say, they’re a bit excited and we are looking forward to hearing all about it when they get back 🎉

💡 ✨ Highlighting some of the brilliantly curious children who featured in our special feature on ITV Anglia / ITV News at the end of last week, as we shared why it’s so important to engage children in science at such an early age!

🫶Thanks to everyone who got involved and made our moment of fame a success, including all our young visitors, a fabulous team of Science Communicators - including Adam who was delivering our Genome Guardians show on the day, Ros Jackson from Illumina, Inc. talking about the reasons behind our collaboration on cutting edge-genomic science, and visitors including the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire Francis Burkitt DL.

📺 Sadly the clip on ITV Anglia catch up only stays live for 24 hours, so we are sorry we can't share our moment of fame with you if you missed it in that short window. Hopefully the photos do an equally good job of sharing what a fun morning we had!

It’s been an even more exciting day than usual at Cambridge Science Centre… Both Matthew Hudson from ITV Anglia News and the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire Francis Burkitt DL, came to visit!! 🤩 🎉

The visits weren’t directly connected but both wanted the lowdown on who we are, what we do and exactly why it’s so important.

🏅 The High Sheriff presented our fabulous Science Communicators with a Certificate of Appreciation for the brilliant work they do on a daily basis - translating complex information into fun and engaging science for kids.

📽️ ITV Anglia News zoomed in on our partnership with with Illumina, interviewing Ros Jackson, Director of Research & Development to learn more about how we’re working together to unlock cutting edge genomic science. Our CEO Rebecca Porter explained why engaging young people in science at such an early age is so crucial. They also chatted with some of the kids who were here filling their mornings with curiosity and mind-blowing science ✨🧬🔬 🧠✨

👀 📺 We are told the news piece will appear on ITV Anglia News tomorrow (Friday) about 6pm, so keep an eye out for us!

We are really looking forward (some may even say we are super-excited!) to this next week. Come and Meet the Innovators from Cambridge Consultants (our Cambridge Science Park neighbours) and learn more about what it’s like to be leading technology innovation right here in Cambridge!

🔬 What is your child’s STEM superpower? Are they an inventive problem solver, a curious explorer or the person who brings everyone together? Whatever their superpower, this summer, they can put their strengths to the test.

CC is proud to be sponsoring Cambridge Science Centre's ‘Summer in the Park 2026’ as part of the programme.

Cambridge Science Centre helps young people discover how science, technology and engineering connect to the world around them. We're excited to contribute our own innovators, technologies and hands-on experiences to support that mission.

Children aged 7 to 11 can pick up an 'Innovator Passport' and begin exploring how their strengths could contribute to innovation. Younger children, teenagers, friends and families are very welcome to join the fun too!

Visitors can get hands-on with robotics challenges, explore adaptive Tetris and discover how AI can support protein design, while chatting with our CC innovators developing tomorrow's technologies.

📍 Cambridge Science Park, Milton Road, CB4 0FN
📅 10 to 14 August 2026
