The Heong Gallery at Downing College opened in February 2016 as a new gallery for exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. The Gallery was designed by Caruso St John Architects (winners of RIBA Stirling Prize 2016) and so named in gratitude for the generous benefaction of Alwyn Heong. It was awarded a RIBA East Award in 2017. FREE ADMISSION

NOW OPEN! at Downing College, Cambridge, is ten years old!

Our new exhibition ‘Ten Good Years’ celebrates the gallery’s anniversary by paying homage to its inaugural exhibition ‘Generation Painting 1955–65: British Art from the Collection of Sir Alan Bowness’, reshowing work from Bowness’s collection alongside contemporary artists.

Very excited to be exhibiting this beautiful piece by at our upcoming major 10-year anniversary show from 29 May.

‘Ten Good Years’ re-shows selected works from our inaugural exhibition ’Generation Painting’ by significant mid-C20th artists such as Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron, and Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, & introduces new works produced over the past 10 years by artists with connections to Cornwall.
