Bolton Steam Museum 2022 Bolton Steam Museum is one of the most important collections of stationary steam engines in the UK

The Museum is open to the public on Wednesdays and Sundays and holds regular steaming days during the year when the entire collection, now consisting of over 30 engines can be seen working in steam. We also provide private viewing and steam days by appointment.

Further to my comment that 'Boiler permitting' we will be celebrating our Diamond Anniversary this August Bank Holiday. I am pleased to announce that we will be steaming and we are looking forward to welcoming all our friends and first time visitors.

Hopefully, boiler permitting, on August Bank Holiday this year we will be celebrating our Diamond Anniversary on Monday 31st. To help us celebrate this event we have engaged the services of the Farnworth & Walkden Brass Band, who will be giving two half hour performances at approx 12.00 noon and 1.00 pm.
There are also commemorative mugs, souvenir badges and coasters available. Entry is free and its free parking.

If you don't want to be stuck and sweltering in a traffic jam. Come along to our open days this Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday. 31 engines running, free parking, free entry, cafe, book stall and tool sales.

Our Early Bank Holiday steaming days went off wonderfully. We had plenty of steam to spare. Once again your generosity is heart warming. Thank you. The late May Bank Holiday is almost upon us and it will be super to see you again. As usual its free entry and free parking. At the August Bank Holiday steaming weekend we are celebrating our Diamond Jubilee (1966 - 2026) and we are hoping to make an event of it so pop it in your diary.

Well its fast approaching our first steaming Bank holiday weekend of 2026. Please come along because no matter what the weather is like outside we can honestly say it will be warm and dry inside. As usual its free entry and free parking Sunday - Monday 10am - 4pm.
It is our AGM after Sundays steam day. It will be a busy year ahead of us as during the August Bank Holiday Sunday 30th - Monday 31st, we will be celebrating our Diamond Jubilee and we are hoping to make it a memorable event.
