Epstein sculptures currently on show at Tate Britain in their free display in the central hall. I hope our sculptors can make it to London to see these. Great to see so many of his heads all together. Some good ideas for patinas!

We will be running a weekend workshop sculpting the figure in clay in 17th and 18th January. If you’ve ever wondered if you could make a sculpture please come along and give it a try. We often have new students with no odious experience who are pleasantly surprised by what they produce. Over the weekend you’ll receive the guidance you need to create a figure in clay, working directly from the model. You can book the course on Eventbrite, follow the licks in bio to navigate there. bathartistsstudios

We had a new model for our sculpture class last week. Luna came in and lay on our model’s turn table and we all tried to sculpt her. A challenge to do this in one evening especially as she was moving around. Normally our models stay very still. But we love a challenge!

We run five sculpture classes a week at at the following times:

Tues 1.45-4.45
Tues 6.30-9.30
Weds 1.45-4.45
Weds 6.30-9.30
Thurs 6.30-9.30

We normally work in clay directly from the model. This gives artists an opportunity for weekly practice and complete beginners can learn how to sculpt. Tuition is provided by the tutor and people also learn from one another.

Our new term begins on January 12th. We have two spaces available on our weekly classes and a few spaces left on our weekend workshop on 17/18th January 2025.

Bath Artists Studios also runs weekly classes in life drawing, stained glass and ceramics.

For artists we offer the opportunity to draw and paint from the model at two affordable weekly sessions costing £15.

Tuesday 10-1: life model, drop in
Fridays 10-1: clothed model, book 4 at a time.

Last day, yesterday, with our model Bob. In class we work directly from the model. Normally we have the she model in the same pose for four or five weeks. Over time, through weekly practice, you get better and better at looking and seeing. Modelling in clay from life is hard work but also deeply therapeutic. The brain changes they way it operates as it focuses on coordinating the eye and fingers, and you forget all your troubles. At we run five sculpture classes every week during term times and have a figure weekend workshop coming up on 17/18th January.
