The duality of nature fascinates us all; how it can nurture yet have the ability to be ruthless.

Sarah’s connection to the natural world is evident through her processes: intricate floral detailing, slip dipping with objects found on her walks, and the purity of white porcelain.

You can see Marissa’s process in her painting. The layers that pour over one another, creating a still life that oozes energy.

Freshly cut flowers in full blossom, sweet fruits that sit open on the table, the feeling of light rushing through the window: there’s a story of her journey in each piece she creates.

🌸🪻🌼 Flora and Fauna 🌼🪻🌸

Art has long been inspired by the natural world and Marissa and Sarah are no exception; both draw on flora and fauna as sources of inspiration and weave it into their work.

Marissa populates her canvases with not only plants and fruits, but also birds. Gardens are places of spiritual retreat for her, which she likens to the Garden of Eden.

Sarah’s sculptures focus in on detail; the small fungi growing out of a dead tree, the single petal, the blade of grass. She creates microcosms of arranged flora, little secret gardens where we can rest.

Introducing Sarah May Rogers…

Sarah’s work demonstrates her love affair with the natural world. Not only does flora inspire her, but more importantly, the subtle and not-so-subtle forces that ebb and flow through nature and the constant balancing and shifts in energy.

She uses porcelain paper clay, primarily because of its strength but also because of its monochromatic whiteness once fired, allowing her sculptures to exhibit a range of light and shadow.

Introducing Marissa Weatherhead…

With a focus on highly stylised still life and flower studies, Marissa’s work is typified by bold colour and vibrating rhythm and reflects her love of gardens, nature, songbirds and the sense of freedom and peace one finds within such spaces.
