The program aims to promote French creation by presenting the work of Davide Balula, Rainier Lericolais or Bernard Piffaretti, while proposing an opening on the American scene with the work of artists such as Sheila Hicks, Kaz Oshiro, Mungo Thomson or Blair Thurman. Over the years the gallery has focused on rediscovering historical artists such as Wallace Berman or artists from the Zagreb art scen

e like the Gorgona Group (Julije Knifer, Mangelos, Josip Vanista), Tomislav Gotovac and Mladen Stilinovic. The gallery regularly invites curators or artists to propose exhibitions projects. And participates to many international art fairs such as Frieze Art Fair (New York), Fiac (Paris) or Art Basel (Basel) and Art Basel Miami Beach (Miami).

Sheila Hicks – O que que é isso?

On view at Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo, from 28 August to 25 October 2026, the exhibition brings together around 30 works spanning more than six decades of Sheila Hicks’s practice, from historic and recent works to a new installation conceived especially for the exhibition.

Curated by Ana Roman, Luis Pérez-Oramas and Paulo Miyada, the exhibition explores Hicks’s ongoing investigation of thread as material, structure and form of thought, across weaving, sculpture, painting and architecture.

The exhibition also includes photographs by Hicks and Sergio Larrain from their travels through Latin America in the late 1950s, as well as a selection of Andean textiles that have been fundamental to Hicks’s practice.

Memories of West Africa: The Collection of Anthropologist Junzo Kawada and Ceramic Artist Machiko Ogawa

Ceramic works by Machiko Ogawa are currently on view at the Setagaya Art Museum, alongside the collection of anthropologist Junzo Kawada.

Anthropologist Junzo Kawada (1934–2024) explored culture through what he described as “cultural triangulation,” bridging Europe, Africa, and Japan. In the 1970s, Machiko Ogawa lived in West Africa with Kawada for over three years, an experience that continues to inform her singular ceramic practice.

Together, they assembled a remarkable collection of over 600 African craftworks—calabashes, baskets, textiles, and more—some of which have remained in their home until now. This exceptional ensemble is being presented to the public for the first time in over four decades.
