Discover ‘CURIOUSLY’, Javier Calleja’s sixth solo exhibition with the gallery, on view at Almine Rech Paris, Turenne until July 25, 2026!

“I tried to do something new and I did the same, so now I do the same and it seems really new,” Calleja tells me — his works invariably described as featuring “characters with big eyes.” It is strange, because there is so much more, it seems to me, beyond those big eyes; yet they have come to stand in for the elusive strangeness of his work. Intimate, simple, immediate on the surface, his works are in truth extraordinarily complex and disorienting, never fully resolved. What they assert is less a univocal statement than a vehicle for reaching something less legible, deeper, perhaps inaccessible. They illuminate — even as they preserve their shadows — something seminal within us, something we reach for, ceaselessly, without ever quite arriving.

Almine Rech is pleased to announce that Thu-Van Tran’s work ‘Colors of Grey’, from 2024, is now part of the collection of the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA, US.

A major figure on the French art scene, Thu-Van Tran now enjoys international recognition. In 2017, she gained widespread attention with a remarkable installation at the Venice Biennale. The following year, she was nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize, and in 2022 she completed a major site-specific commission for the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. More recently, her work was exhibited at the Bourse de Commerce, Pinault Collection. Over the past two decades, she has developed a wide-ranging body of work, whose cosmic dimension is evident in her sculptural installations, monumental frescoes, and film-based narratives.

Almine Rech is pleased to announce the representation of Keita Morimoto in New York and Paris, alongside a series of recent institutional acquisitions of the artist’s work. Following his inaugural solo exhibition with Almine Rech New York in 2025, Morimoto’s work will be presented by the gallery at Art Basel in Switzerland this June, ahead of a solo exhibition at Almine Rech Paris in 2027.

“I have long been intrigued by the scenes depicted in Keita’s paintings, which are invariably set at night. Illuminated by the glow of the contemporary city, his figures belong to a generation born in the 1990s. They are part of an urban youth that discovers a sense of freedom after dark. Light has been a central subject for several artists from earlier generations represented by the gallery, and Keita brings a singular vision to it, one deeply rooted in the realities of the present day and conveyed through an exceptional command of painting.”

-Almine Rech

Keita Morimoto (born 1990, Osaka, Japan) engages deeply with the techniques and themes of Baroque lighting, early 20th-century American Realism, and pre-modern Genre Painting. By referencing these historical movements, he reimagines contemporary urban life, transforming ordinary streets into extraordinary narratives.

Taryn Simon’s works are featured in ‘Remix: Photography – Fiction and Truth’, currently on view at the Kunsthalle Bremen in Bremen, Germany (until 28 February 2027). The exhibition draws attention to the traditional notion of photography as an objective representation, a reliable documentation of reality or even as evidence in the investigation of crimes.

Taryn Simon’s ‘The Innocents’ (2000–2003) documents the stories of individuals who served time in prison for violent crimes they did not commit. At issue is the question of photography’s function as a credible eyewitness and arbiter of justice.

The new episode of the film series ‘As Seen By’ is now online! On the occasion of Jeff Koons’ major exhibitions currently being held in Japan and Greece, this second video features Koons’ ‘Chainlink’ as seen by Bernard Blistène, curator of the artist’s retrospective at the Centre Pompidou (2014/2015) and Honorary director of the Musée national d’art moderne – Centre Pompidou, Paris, France.

Click the link in our bio to watch the full video.

Jeff Koons is one of the most prominent artists working today. He is known for challenging the limitations of fabrication while transforming everyday images and objects into works of art that engage the viewer in a dialogue with the time in which we live and our historical past.

‘Paintings and Banality – Selected Works from the Collection’ is on view at Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka, Japan, through July 5, 2026. The exhibition explores the work of American artist Jeff Koons, tracing his artistic journey from the iconic series of the 1980s to his recent monumental paintings.

Koons’s work is also currently featured in ‘Venus of Lespugue’ at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens, Greece, through August 31, 2026, and in ‘Sea, Pop & Sun’ at Villa Carmignac in Porquerolles, France, through November 1, 2026.

‘Ali Cherri: To Fall, Patiently’, opens next week on June 13, 2026 at the Oakville Galleries, US and will be open through October 3, 2026. Highly influenced by the Lebanese postwar art scene, Ali Cherri’s complex body of work interrogates how histories and currencies of political violence resonate through generations as well as physical and cultural landscapes, objects and places.

At the Gairloch Gallery, Ali Cherri presents a series of sculptures, assembled elegantly between different materials, each a hybrid involving ancient artifacts found by the artist in auctions or marketplaces. Adjacent to the sculptures is a series of watercolour paintings and the film ‘Of Men and Gods and Mud’, which explores the relationship between humans, labour, and the environment in northern Sudan. Two sculptures by Ali Cherri will be installed outdoors in the sculpture garden of Gairloch Gardens: The bronze sculpture ‘The Tree of Life’ re-interprets ancient Assyrian reliefs of a sacred tree, while the neon sculpture ‘Les (Sur)Vivants’ poetically references the perils of surviving catastrophe. As part of our summer program, Ali Cherri also presents two evenings of his films as part of ‘Sunset Kino. Stay tuned for an updated Sunset Kino program.

At the Centennial Gallery, the artist presents the film ‘The Watchman’. Set in Cyprus, the film features a soldier on watch at the edge of no-man’s land between the Greek Cypriot south and the Turkish Cypriot north. As with much of Cherri’s work, the film concerns itself with questions of borders and the challenges they enact upon ideas of sovereignty, identity, and geopolitical realities.

Kenny Scharf is featured in ‘BEYOND THE STREETS’ which has now officially opened its doors to the public at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, France through Aug 30, 2026! A true immersion into the world of graffiti, street art, and contemporary urban culture, the exhibition transforms the venue into a series of spectacular settings, reminiscent of life-sized movie sets.

Rooted in the lasting cultural impact of graffiti and street art, BEYOND THE STREETS is not simply a static exhibition but a truly dynamic platform. The exhibition traces how this underground movement has reshaped cities, language, fashion, music, and activism on a global scale. From graffiti-covered subway cars to museum walls and international stages, it explores how artists who once worked without permission transformed visual culture on an unprecedented scale.

Presented at La Villette after stops in Los Angeles, New York City, Shanghai, and London, this Paris edition takes over the Grande Halle with an immersive journey that combines historical and contemporary works. It also pays tribute to the French scene and to Paris’s rich graffiti heritage.

The exhibition is curated by Roger Gastman.

Today we’re diving into Chloe Wise’s work, in celebration of the artist’s solo exhibition in Switzerland ‘Extrasensory’, opening on June 12 at The Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger | KBH.G. The exhibition marks the artist’s first major presentation in the country and introduces her most expansive film project to date, set within a large-scale immersive installation.

Join us in revisiting the artist’s past shows!

Chloe Wise’s practice spans diverse media, including painting, sculpture, video and installation. Foregrounding an interest in the history of portraiture, Wise examines the multiple channels that lead to the construction of a Self, paying particular attention to the interweaving of consumption and image making. With a wry sense of humor, she nods to canonical tableaux, like Manet’s Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe, exploring the shared projected desires built around food and the female body.

In ‘Extrasensory’, Chloe Wise extends her longstanding investigation into how subjectivity is constructed through images, symbols, and cultural codes. Her practice, which frequently interrogates the entanglement of representation and desire, here shifts toward the conditions of perception itself, examining how meaning is produced at the intersection of sensory experience, belief systems, and narrative structures.

In the series, greys are produced through a chromatic oxymoron where color is both negative and generative. When two complementary colors mix—for example, green and red, yellow and purple, blue and orange—they lose chroma, cancelling each other out to yield a chromatic grey. In turn, the grey color field produces a liminal space that carries residues of its component hues. Multiple, sometimes antagonistic, presences are held in a zone of suspension. Hues approach and recede. Every gesture remains visible as a deposit, stratified into depth like sediment. If the military logic behind the Rainbow Herbicides sought to make land fully legible and render life available to control, Tran refuses such certainties. She is here intervening in one of war’s most lasting instruments: seeing as an agent of discipline and representation as a way of managing and imagining the real. Grey, then, is an inevitability, both a visual condition and a conceptual position that seeks to rewrite the terms of the gaze. In the transparency of grey, Tran produces an order where hierarchy retreats.

John Giorno’s ‘Dial-A-Poem Thailand’ is now open at Bangkok Kunsthalle! In the curatorial spirit of Giorno’s original project, this presentation maintains this sense of radicality not only through its content but also through a self-reflexive approach that challenges the very tradition of poetry itself. What defines a poem, and how might poetic expression be reimagined in the contemporary Thai context?

“Dial-A-Poem” first launched in 1968 as the brainchild of the late poet, artist and activist John Giorno. The original “Dial-A-Poem” was radical in its approach and curation—a reflection of the social and political upheavals that marked the 1960s. For this first iteration, Giorno selected radical pioneers, each pushing the boundaries of their respective fields.

Poetry in ‘Dial-A-Poem Thailand’ is not presented as a stable form, but as a site of contestation, disruption, and expansion. Thailand’s sonic landscape is incredibly rich, crossing generations, regions, cultures, and languages. The selection attempts to weave a sonic textile that reflects this cultural depth and multiplicity, acknowledging the diversity and fluidity of Thai identity. To achieve this, traditional definitions of poetry are once again set aside, expanding the form to include all recorded sound.

The exhibition is curated by Mark Chearavanont.
