Since 2005, the gallery christian berst art brut - internationally recognized as a reference in its field - has been putting its passion at the service of creators off the beaten track, whether they are “clas- sics” already consecrated by museums and collections or contemporary discoveries promised to the recognition of the art world. The gallery distinguishes itself as much by its exhibitions, it

s participation in international art fairs as by its publications - more than 80 bilingual catalogues to date - or its conferences, screenings and other cultural events that tend to bring an ever wider public into the intricacies of art brut.

In the work of Damián Valdés Dilla (1970–), the city becomes a fragmented and reconstructed mental space. Working with modest materials and drawing, he creates dense architectural worlds populated by machines and means of transport. Rooted in the context of Cuban Art Brut, his practice emerges from a constrained relationship to everyday life and physical space. Since the 2010s, his work has been exhibited internationally and is now held in major public and private collections, including the Musée national d’Art moderne – Centre Pompidou. Beginning with handmade models in his forties, he developed imagined cities and vehicles from found materials, reflecting both a fascination with movement and the need to recreate it in miniature.

The gallery has lent ten “Giants” by Misleidys Castillo Pedroso for the exhibition KAWS. Art & Comix, which explores the interactions between comic books, comic strips, cartoons, and fine arts. The exhibition places the American artist KAWS in dialogue with certain contemporary trends, with a particular focus on the artistic autonomy of his characters, which combine elements of pop art, commercial art, and public art.

A catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition.

currently on view : Damián Valdés Dilla - il y a d’autres mondes…

Damián Valdés Dilla builds cities as one rebuilds oneself, when he is not creating fantastical machines as metaphorical means of escape. It is his neighborhood of Alamar, in Havana—a deprived landscape of Soviet-style buildings rising by the sea—that seems to have become the perfect matrix for nurturing dreams of elsewhere.

OFF SITE : Julius Bockelt solo exhibition "Blausches Rauschen" at Galerie Goldstein

Julius Bockelt’s work engages with phenomena from nature and physics. From his intense observations, he develops methods to capture processes that are usually ephemeral and to retrace them within his artistic practice. He draws vibrations, makes soap bubbles durable, and photographs cloud formations. The origin of his artistic practice lies in music—more precisely, in the superimposition of sounds and the interferences that arise from them.

The solo exhibition “Blaues Rauschen” [Blue Noise] brings together this cosmos of artistic production in a concentrated presentation of drawings, cloud studies, soap bubbles, and sound. Between the groups of works, resonant spaces unfold around an overarching idea—a narrative about perception, transience, and the search for knowledge.

Join us for the opening on Thursday 30

Cuban artist Lázaro Martínez Durán develops a distinctive practice based on images sourced from the media, which he cuts, assembles, and recomposes to create an imaginary television channel. Immersed in a flow blending political propaganda, sporting events, and advertisements, he suspends these fleeting moments into a series of still images that convey his personal vision of Cuba. His work is now held in major collections, including the abcd / Bruno Decharme collection and the Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne.
