currently on view : Damián Valdés Dilla - il y a d’autres mondes…
In the work of Damián Valdés Dilla (1970–), the city becomes a fragmented and reconstructed mental space. Working with modest materials and drawing, he creates dense architectural worlds populated by machines and means of transport. Rooted in the context of Cuban Art Brut, his practice emerges from a constrained relationship to everyday life and physical space. Since the 2010s, his work has been exhibited internationally and is now held in major public and private collections, including the Musée national d’Art moderne – Centre Pompidou. Beginning with handmade models in his forties, he developed imagined cities and vehicles from found materials, reflecting both a fascination with movement and the need to recreate it in miniature.
