Spécialiste de l’art contemporain australien, en particulier de l’art Aborigène et de celui des insulaires du Détroit de Torres, Stéphane Jacob est aujourd’hui reconnu comme l’une des références européennes en la matière, tant par les collectionneurs que par les grands musées. ÉVÉNEMENT | La rue Chapon fête la rentrée ☀️
Pour prolonger l’été et célébrer la rentrée, le collectif vous donne rendez-vous le samedi 5 septembre, de 14h à 20h, pour un après-midi placé sous le signe de l’art, de la découverte et de la convivialité.

À cette occasion, 20 galeries de la rue Chapon ouvrent leurs portes et proposent une programmation spécialement imaginée pour l’événement.
De galerie en galerie, venez flâner dans le Marais, découvrir les expositions en cours, rencontrer les galeristes et les artistes, et profiter d’un moment chaleureux au cœur de la rue Chapon.
À cette occasion, Stéphane Jacob-Langevin proposera deux visites guidées de l’exposition à 11h et à 15h, au 13 rue Chapon.

EVENT | Rue Chapon celebrates the new season ☀️
To extend the summer and welcome the new season, the collective invites you to join us on Saturday 5 September, from 2pm to 8pm, for an afternoon dedicated to art, discovery and conviviality.

For the occasion, 20 galleries along Rue Chapon will open their doors, each presenting a programme specially conceived for the event.
From one gallery to the next, come and wander through the Marais, discover the exhibitions currently on view, meet gallerists and artists, and enjoy a convivial afternoon in the heart of Rue Chapon.
As part of the event, Stéphane Jacob-Langevin will lead two guided tours of the exhibition at 11am and 3pm, at 13 Rue Chapon.

Le mois d'août est l'occasion de pousser la porte de la Galerie Arts d'Australie • Stéphane Jacob et de prendre le temps de découvrir Birrung Ngura – Belonging to Country, Appartenir à la Terre, l'exposition de Konstantina.

FOCUS | The Caste Collection de Konstantina
Avec The Caste Collection, Konstantina questionne les préjugés et les classifications qui continuent de remettre en cause l’identité des Aborigènes issus du métissage.

En divisant ses œuvres en fractions : 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8, l’artiste dénonce l’idée absurde selon laquelle l’identité pourrait être mesurée ou quantifiée. Son message est essentiel : l’identité aborigène ne se divise pas.

À travers cette série, Konstantina affirme la force, la continuité et l’indivisibilité des identités aborigènes : aucune fraction ne peut réduire l’identité d’un peuple.

FOCUS | The Caste Collection by Konstantina
With The Caste Collection, Konstantina explores the prejudices and classifications that continue to challenge the identity of Aboriginal people of mixed heritage.
By dividing her works into fractions: 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8, the artist denounces the absurd idea that identity can be measured or quantified. Her message is clear: Aboriginal identity cannot be divided.
Through this series, Konstantina affirms the strength, continuity and indivisibility of Aboriginal identities: no fraction can diminish the identity of a people.

EXPOSITION | « L’artiste aborigène Konstantina est une descendante du peuple Gadigal, membres du groupe Eora, gardiens traditionnels de la région de Sydney, en Australie. Ancrée dans les pratiques picturales (la peinture par points) et la langue de ses ancêtres, elle réinterprète dans un vocabulaire visuel actuel les liens profonds de cette population avec le territoire, et son histoire malmenée. Son travail, enraciné dans la recherche, porte aussi sur les savoir-faire traditionnels et artistiques dont elle hérite. EXHIBITION | "Aboriginal artist Konstantina is a descendant of the Gadigal people, part of the Eora Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Sydney region in Australia. Rooted in the pictorial traditions of her ancestors—particularly dot painting—and in their language, she reinterprets, through a contemporary visual vocabulary, her people's profound connection to Country and their often-troubled history. Her deeply research-based practice also explores the traditional artistic knowledge and cultural heritage she has inherited.
