Espronceda ESPRONCEDA, Institute of Art and Culture is an innovative center for contemporary visual and digital art, including education and cultural research.

Founded in Barcelona in 2013. ESPRONCEDA is home of inspiration and creativity. Apart from offering work spaces for artists with different backgrounds, its "Artist in Residence" program aims at providing work space and support for international artists. ESPRONCEDA has opened a dialogue between artists, curators, collectors, culural instituions, all other cultural initiatives and eventually everybody interested in art & culture. ESPRONCEDA events feature internationally established artists as well as underground talent in every field. Things you might experience includes, but are not limited to: painting, sculpture, photography, design, acrobatics, dancing, live music, culinary experiences, visuals, theater. Behind every immersive experience is a community of collaboration, knowledge, and creative exchange. 🌐

This year’s theme, Collective Cartographies, invites artists and interdisciplinary teams to explore how XR, AI, and immersive storytelling can reimagine heritage, territory, and collective memory. 🌀

Throughout IMMENSIVA 2026, our mentors support the artists through workshops, feedback sessions, and one-on-one guidance, helping transform ideas into meaningful, location-based immersive experiences.

We’re excited to introduce the artists, researchers, and innovators accompanying this year’s artist teams on their creative journey.

🤲 Contemporary Craft Day — Basketry & Eco-Resin

A day of artisanal mentorship at Espronceda, combining two disciplines: contemporary basketry and eco-resin sculpture.

🪨 RELIEF IN RESIN, with Marcela Salazar (𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐀 𝐒𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐏𝐓𝐎𝐑): participants went from clay to eco-resin, creating their own relief piece through the full sculptural process.

🧺 CONTEMPORARY BASKETRY, with Montse Roa (Montse Roa): they wove unique pieces, combining laser-cut structures with natural fibres.

All of it is surrounded by the exhibition FORMS OF PRESENCE: MEDIA LOOP, part of Professional Media Presence (PMP) project, on view in the gallery.

Una jornada de mentoria artesanal a Espronceda, combinant dues disciplines: cistelleria contemporània i escultura en resina ecològica.

🪨 RELIEF IN RESIN, amb Marcela Salazar (𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐀 𝐒𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐏𝐓𝐎𝐑): les persones participants van anar del fang a la resina ecològica, creant la seva pròpia peça en relleu a través de tot el procés escultòric.

🧺 CONTEMPORARY BASKETRY, amb Montse Roa (Montse Roa): van teixir peces úniques, combinant estructures tallades amb làser i fibres naturals.

Tot plegat envoltat per l’exposició FORMS OF PRESENCE: MEDIA LOOP, de Professional Media Presence (PMP), que es podia veure a la galeria.

Gràcies a la Marcela i a la Montse per compartir el seu ofici amb tanta generositat, i a totes les persones participants per la curiositat, les mans i la bona energia.

After months of online exchange and collaboration, four artists have come together in Barcelona for two intensive weeks of artistic experimentation, research and co-creation. Now, it's time to discover the results! ✨

After months of matching, online sessions, training and exchange, four artists are coming together at ESPRONCEDA from 5–16 October to develop two co-created projects:

Paola Idrontino · Barcelona-based multidisciplinary artist working across textiles, costume & performance.
Kristina Miltcheva · .miltcheva Bulgarian/Canadian multidisciplinary & digital artist exploring worldbuilding and the mystical.
An immersive exploration of natural and synthetic forms through textiles, water, light and projection.

Jade Nijman · .nijman French artist & researcher working between art, science and spatiality.
Bruno Rodrigues Martins · Portuguese multidisciplinary artist working with video, light & sound.
An exploration of bodies, movement and territory, combining materials collected across Barcelona with digital practices.

On October 9th, Espronceda opens its doors to two parallel mentorship workshops, side by side.

🪨 RELIEF IN RESIN — Craft, Sustainability and Sculptural Expression, with Marcela Salazar (.sculptor). Colombian sculptor based in Barcelona. From clay to eco-resin: a complete sculptural journey, from modelling to final piece.

🧺 CONTEMPORARY BASKETRY — Digital Structures, Natural Fibres and Free-Form Weaving, with Montse Roa (). Trained at the Museu de la Pauma, Mas de Barberans. Where laser-cut structures meet natural fibre weaving.

Participants will be split into two groups. Choose your preferred discipline at registration, or select "No preference."

15 artists. 3 days. Unlimited access to the most advanced AI coding models. ⚡

A body turned into an instrument. A jellyfish that responds to your presence. Everyday objects that make music. Immersive worlds we can inhabit together.

This was Hack Lab #1 of Laboratori Constel·lació, ESPRONCEDA’s programme exploring agentic audiovisual systems. The key: agentic, not generative. Instead of making videos from prompts, artists wired AI agents into the tools they already use (TouchDesigner, Unity, Unreal, Max/MSP and more) so their systems could read their own state, change parameters and make decisions live.

Our Hack Labs are intensive sprints to experiment at the edge of art and technology, share knowledge and build in the open. In three days, 7 projects came to life: work you can see, hear, touch and step inside.

This is just the beginning. More Hack Labs are coming, stay tuned! 👀

Un cos convertit en instrument. Una medusa que respon a la teva presència. Objectes quotidians que fan música. Mons immersius que podem habitar junts.

Així va ser el Hack Lab #1 del Laboratori Constel·lació, el programa d’ESPRONCEDA que explora sistemes audiovisuals agèntics. La clau: agèntic, no generatiu. En lloc de crear vídeos a partir de prompts, els artistes van connectar agents d’IA a les eines que ja utilitzen (TouchDesigner, Unity, Unreal, Max/MSP i més) perquè els seus sistemes poguessin llegir el seu propi estat, modificar paràmetres i prendre decisions en directe.

Els nostres Hack Labs són sprints intensius per experimentar entre art i tecnologia, compartir coneixement i crear en obert. En tres dies van néixer 7 projectes: obres que es poden veure, escoltar, tocar i habitar.

More than 200 children and their families joined us this September at Fundació Julio Muñoz Ramonet for another magical weekend of nature, storytelling, technology and play. 💚

Together with our April edition, over 500 children have now experienced Naturetales Live in Barcelona! 🌳🧙‍♀️
A huge thank you to Fundació Julio Muñoz Ramonet for making it possible and to NATUREVENTYR ApS for their trust and wonderful collaboration.

BCNUPFEST · 5TH ANNIVERSARY
BACK TO THE WALLS OF ESPRONCEDA

To celebrate its 5th anniversary, BCNUPFEST – Barcelona International Paste-Up Street Art Fest returns to one of its original locations: the exterior walls of ESPRONCEDA.

On 26 September, our wall becomes a collective space for urban art, community and experimentation. 🖌️ Children and families are invited to take part, with a dedicated area where kids can create and contribute directly to the wall.

💫 And when night falls, the physical mural takes on a new dimension through a digital intervention, bringing urban art and technology together.

🎛️ THE FUZZY SHOW — «Samples» 🎛️

ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture presents Samples, an interactive sound installation by Swiss artist Bastien Bron, known as .

Samples transforms the exhibition space into a collective musical instrument. Large mixed-media panels representing sound waveforms activate sounds as visitors approach — generating an ever-evolving musical composition. No screens, no visible technology. The interface is the human body.

ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture presenta Samples, una instal·lació sonora interactiva de l'artista suís Bastien Bron, conegut com .
Samples transforma l'espai expositiu en un instrument musical col·lectiu. Grans panells de tècnica mixta que representen formes d'ona sonores activen sons quan els visitants s'hi apropen — generant una composició musical en constant evolució. Sense pantalles ni tecnologia visible. La interfície és el cos humà.
