Galleri Bo Bjerggaard was founded in 1999. The gallery has two separate exhibitions spaces, each with 2 or 3 adjoining rooms.

Initially located in the center of Copenhagen, in 2007 the gallery moved to a larger location in the old Meat Packing District. The gallery´s layout therefore allows for 2 exhibitions to be presented at the same time.

The gallery presents international contemporary art from Europe and America. While its main focus is contemporary painting, the gallery also exhibits sculpture, photography, video and installations.

The gallery participates in international art fairs throughout Europe and North America

Autumn holiday art recommendations 🍂

Looking for art to experience during the autumn break? We’ve gathered a few recommendations featuring artists from our gallery programme, from exhibitions across the country to installations and special projects outside of Denmark.

Whether you’re spending the autumn break in Denmark or travelling, here are seven places to explore.

1. Side By Side - Galleri Bo Bjerggaard, Frederiksberg

Our current group exhibition brings together works by nine artists from the gallery’s programme, exploring new possibilities within the gallery space.

On view until 7 November 2026.

2. Emily Gernild - Det Fynske Kunstakademi, Odense

In Feminist Aesthetics, Gernild reimagines traditional subjects such as still life through colour, line and form. The exhibition includes paintings presented in the Academy’s Skulptursal.

On view until 11 December 2026.

3. John Kørner - Fuglsang Kunstmuseum, Lolland

Laguna Lolland presents new paintings inspired by Kørner’s childhood in Onsevig. Memories, landscapes and surreal light phenomena come together in a colourful tribute to the region.

On view until 11 April 2027.

4. A K Dolven - Stiftung St. Matthäus, Berlin

In four hundred million years of sunrise from the dark, Dolven explores the relationship between touch and time, bringing geological, historical and personal perspectives together in the setting of St. Matthäus-Kirche.

5. John Kørner - Strandlodsvej, Copenhagen

If you’re staying in Copenhagen, take a walk past Strandlodsvej, where Kørner’s new mural and rooftop installation bring his characteristic Problems into the cityscape.

6. Ivan Andersen - HUSET i Asnæs, West Zealand

Ivan Andersen is among the artists participating in 100 KUNSTNERE, a large group exhibition bringing together 100 professional artists and showcasing the diversity of contemporary Danish art.

7. Eva Schlegel - Stadtgalerie Klagenfurt, Austria

An installation featuring suspended sculptural forms and mirrored surfaces, creating an interplay of shapes, reflections and shadows.

On Thursday, 8 October, we are opening Side By Side.

A new group exhibition bringing together works by nine artists from the gallery’s programme.

Featuring Ivan Andersen, Per Bak Jensen, Anna Bjerger, Emily Gernild, John Kørner, Rasmus Nilausen, Tal R, Mike Silva and Erik Steffensen, the exhibition also explores the architectural possibilities of the gallery space.

Join us from 16:00–18:00 for drinks and snacks. Everyone is welcome!

Tomorrow, Saturday 3 October, is the final day of the exhibition. For the occasion, we’ll be hosting a finissage at the gallery, with coffee and croissants throughout the day.

Opening today: John Kørner’s Laguna Lolland at Fuglsang Kunstmuseum.

We’re very happy to share the opening of Laguna Lolland, a new solo exhibition by John Kørner at Fuglsang Kunstmuseum.

The exhibition presents a series of new paintings inspired by Lolland, where Kørner grew up.

Laguna Lolland opens today, 2 October, and runs until 11 April 2027.

Opening today: Feminist Aesthetics by Emily Gernild.

Today, Emily Gernild opens her solo exhibition Feminist Aesthetics in Skulptursalen in her hometown, Odense.

The exhibition presents Gernild’s vibrant paintings, in which she draws on modernism and reimagines classical traditions such as still life through colour, line and form.

Opening this Friday: John Kørner’s Laguna Lolland at Fuglsang Kunstmuseum.

There are places you never completely leave. For John Kørner, that place is Onsevig in West Lolland, Denmark, where he grew up.

In Laguna Lolland, Kørner returns through vibrant new paintings where childhood memories, landscapes and surreal light phenomena merge. Rather than nostalgic flashbacks, he creates luminous counter-images to familiar portrayals of the region, filled with beauty, possibility and magic. A declaration of love for Lolland, and for a place that continues to shape him.

Laguna Lolland opens this Friday, 2 October, at Fuglsang Kunstmuseum and runs until 11 April 2027.
