This type of spear, known as a "zaga", originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and was used by the Yakoma, Ngbandi and Sango peoples. 🌍
The zaga could also serve as currency and was a symbol of prestige and authority. Often accompanied by a "zama zabe" knife or a "bgbanzo " staff, it formed part of the regalia symbolising the political, judicial and spiritual authority of certain Ngbandi chiefs.
