In my work, humanity, and how we interact with each other, and our surroundings is the central point.
Our strengths, weaknesses and differences…
What defines us?
Are we good, evil or something in between?
What is our purpose?
I see my creativity as a language, in which I can express all the things that are difficult to explain in words.

Like an improvised game where anything goes,
my paintings emerge from an intuitive and spontaneous dialogue between materials and canvas.
In my creative process, I do not allow myself to be constrained by thoughts and opinions!
This approach gives rise to figuratively abstract works
with a strong use of colour.

When you first lay eyes on Gutzi’s paintings
you get provoked by his use of colours.

But, when you look closer,
you are pulled into a chaotic world
of both god and evil,
ugly and beautiful
and you will notice stories about people,
their feelings and experiences.

His works are like painted music.
Rhythmic and harmonious,
yet atonal at the same time.
And it is this duality in his paintings
that constantly emerges.
It is as if he deliberately works
with opposites to pique your curiosity.

MAJA BARBLAN
Geboren 1957 in Zürich.
Ich lebte in Bern, im Raum Basel,
in Chur im Kanton Graubünden,
und jetzt seit längerer Zeit
wieder ganz in Muttenz bei Basel.

Zur Arbeit in Paris:
Ich erhalte beim Sehen eine Inspiration
und arbeite lange Zeit
an Ort mit dieser Idee.
Oft mache ich direkt Doppelaufnahmen
mit meiner Fuji Kamera.
Danach bearbeite ich die Bilder am Computer,
bis sie für mich aussagekräftig sind.

is an artist from Basel, Switzerland.
Since 1988, shaped by international life and travel experiences, she has worked across sculpture, painting and analogue photography. Her work is devoted to the abstraction of the body, self-portraiture, and an ongoing engagement with materiality, a trajectory that also led her to learn welding and design a light object.

Aga was born and raised in Poland and began her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, specializing in textile tapestries and historical materials. In 1998, she changed departments and began to study painting.

Art is Aga’s passion. Through it, she explores places and hidden strengths.
Her paintings visualize dreams, the beauty of nature, and the essence of empathy.
They capture emotions and keep them alive in a fragile yet dynamic way.
With a versatile reconcilable style Aga invites you into a world playing with the emotional aspects of life.
