Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of Fragments of Conversation, curated by Alexandra Stäheli and Isabel Balzer, presenting artists from Atelier Mondial residency program: Sixte Kakinda Sixte Kakinda, PhD | Drawing Artist , Mónica Iturribarría Mónica Iturribarría studio , Keabetswe Boccomino and Kwaku Dapaah Opoku REEZ , Till Langschied Till Langschied , and Livia Kern Livia Marina Kern and Remo Schluep Remo Schluep .

We were also delighted to welcome so many visitors during Kunsttage Basel Kunsttage Basel with guided tours and hands-on demonstrations of Order from the Loom, the code-based weaving installation by Kwaku Dapaah Opoku.

The exhibition remains open until September 26, 2026. We warmly invite you to visit and spend time with the works, a collection of gestures, materials, and stories that show how exchange continues even where language, politics, or distance reach their limits.

Save the date: 26.08.26 at 18.00 the vernissage of Fragments of Conversation will open the doors of , bringing together works by Sixte Kakinda (), Mónica Iturribarría (.iturribarria), Keabetswe Boccomino () and Kwaku Dapaah Opoku (), Till Langschied(.langschied), Livia Kern () and Remo Schluep () – artists who have all taken part in the Atelier Mondial exchange program. The exhibition explores how communication remains possible even under difficult cultural, political or personal circumstances – and what fragments of encounter, memory and understanding emerge from this.

Artist: Boris Tellegen (Amsterdam, NLD)

Boris Tellegen (NLD, 1968) began his artistic career in the 1980s, using his pseudonym DELTA. As a Graffiti artist, Tellegen treated the two-dimensional frame of the letter and the word as sculpture, bursting out or morphing into the wall, piercing its boundaries by adding a dimension. By combining the reliefs of his practice with his education in industrial design, he soon started to create three-dimensional work on the intersection of architecture, painting, sculpture and installation.

In his body of work made over a thirty-year span, Tellegen explores how to transcend the boundaries of walls by annexing, deconstructing and recomposing them, to ultimately disregard them in recent installations. Through the ever-fluctuating shape of his work, Tellegen continues to disrupt our perception of surface and space.

The exhibition brings together works from the series Myths of Everyday Life and Cicatrice, exploring landscapes and urban spaces as traces of human presence and memory. Between nocturnal city scenes, quiet light atmospheres, and the monumental marble quarries of Carrara, the photographs move between documentary observation and atmospheric intensity.

In Myths of Everyday Life, Kostas Maros photographs urban spaces as if something has just happened or is about to. No faces, no gestures. Only traces of actions that have already taken place, and a mood that reaches beyond the frame. There is something cinematic about these images. Like an establishing shot, they don’t tell us where the story is going. They place us inside a feeling.

In first serie, Maros focuses on the marble quarries of Carrara - landscapes shaped by extraction, history, and human intervention. The monumental cuts into the mountains reveal tensions between nature, industry, and aesthetics, while pointing toward long-term ecological transformation.
