No other country in the world boasts a similar density of high-quality urban graphic/illustration design as Switzerland. This is a place where dedicated artists and design freelancers constantly enrich the art scene with new creations of extraordinary quality. Artstübli would like to close this gap and familiarize the public with traditional Swiss creative work. Artyou – Urban Art Basel and Artyou Selection exhibitions are organized by Artstübli.

KOSTAS MAROS – Traces of Absence

In Myths of Everyday Life, Kostas Maros photographs urban spaces as if something has just happened or is about to. No faces, no gestures. Only traces of actions that have already taken place, and a mood that reaches beyond the frame. There is something cinematic about these images. Like an establishing shot, they don’t tell us where the story is going. They place us inside a feeling.

We warmly invite you to the opening of THE LIVING LINE, a process-based, interdisciplinary project by Timo Paris, on Tuesday, May 13 at 6 pm. Our space transforms into a temporary studio and shared working environment. Basel-based artist .paris develops a large-scale drawing in direct relation to the space, unfolding continuously over the course of his residency. Situated between breaking, performative research, and drawing, His practice understands line as movement, trace, and social form. Bodily motion is translated into drawing, while lines become starting points for encounters, exchange, and collective practice. The project opens the space as a participatory environment: visitors are invited to witness the process, return over time, and engage with the evolving work. Alongside the drawing, the space hosts open dance sessions, activating it as a site of rehearsal, gathering, and shared experimentation with the local community.

The project will be on view from May 13 to May 31, 2026.

Public dance sessions (6-9pm): May 19 / May 21 / May 26 / May 28

Opening hours:
Thu/Fri 11–18

URBAN ART DREISPITZ TOUR

Artstübli has been organizing and leading authentic urban art and graffiti tours for a proud 10 years, accompanied by artists and connoisseurs of the scene, thus conveying this art movement from the city centre to the railroad line.

Understanding the city as an open-air gallery, fitting into an existing context and using artistic means to claim a territory has been one of the most important characteristics of urban art since its beginnings. Seven guides lead visitors through the urban public museum in German, French and English, using a variety of techniques and styles created by various national and international artists.

In addition to the popular “Urban Art City Tour”, a new Urban Art Tour has been launched for the Dreispitz area in Basel/Münchenstein, which also conveys the historical context and the transformation of the area, including the interim use of the „Gleisbogen“. Through artists such as Greg Lamarche, Bitnik, Hannah Weinberger, Maja Hürst, Hendrik Beikirch, Jeroen Erosie, SpY and several others, the use of the industrial bodies as a canvas brought high-class works to the area.

Further information about the tours and guides, as well as bookings and requests for group tours on a desired date are available here: www.artstuebli.ch/tours/
