This summer, the Latcham Art Centre website received a 2026 Gold dotCOMM Award in the Nonprofit category.

We are a little late in sharing it, but the recognition deserves a proper thank you.

Over the past year, our team worked alongside Latcham to rebuild their website from the ground up. The goal was simple. Make their exhibitions, programs and events easier for the community to find and enjoy, and give the site a look that reflects who Latcham is.

The DotComm Awards are an international competition recognizing excellence in web creativity and digital communication. We are proud to share this one with a client that cares deeply about access to the arts.

Celebrate National Senior Day with Strike a POSE! (Portrait of a Senior Experience)🎨

Over three days, twenty seniors gathered in the studio at Latcham Art Centre to explore their creativity and challenge stereotypes about what it means to be a senior while re-connecting with different aspects of their identities - past, present, and future. Friendships were made, discussions were had, and memories were created that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to all of our courageous participants for taking part in this special project, and to the talented Anushay Sheikh for their hard work and vision in documentation, the results of which will accompany the final exhibition of this work. 🌟

The results of this project will be on display in the Stouffville Library and Municipal Offices until February 2027. Keep an eye out to learn more about this exciting project! ✨

"Facing Material" is on view now 🌟

In this solo exhibition, Meera Sethi asks us to consider what it means to make contact with material as a carrier of history, memory, geography, grief, and resilience.

Through a sustained commitment to material exploration across a range of media, Sethi engages a methodology of deep investigation into cloth that takes us from playful surface ornamentation to questions of labour, handcraft, and community.

The exhibition includes four paintings from Sethi’s “Who’s Your Dadi?” Series, which act as portals into the richly patterned worlds of her matriarchal subjects, a generation of women too often diminished by colonial and patriarchal histories.

By reframing textile as mode and metaphor of communication, Sethi focuses our attention toward interlaced narratives.

📣 Call for Submissions: Photo-Based Art Project Exploring Tattoos @ Latcham Art Centre, Stouffville 📣

Contribute to a community-centred project that will investigate the stories behind tattoos: the people who wear them and the people that create them.

Latcham Art Centre is embarking on a yearlong project to collect images and stories that explore the relationship between people and their tattoos, and communities formed around tattoo artists and their studios. The result will be a photo-based exhibition that captures the ideas, moments, and stories behind one of the fastest growing and most visible contemporary artforms.

The project aims to represent prevalent themes that are emerging from tattooing as a visual expression of community belonging, identity, personal passion, healing, and commemoration.

Latcham Art Centre invites submissions from photographers, videographers, and tattoo artists that: represent a range of styles and practices; are interested in collaborating with community members to develop an innovative body of work; express the story-telling capacity of photography and tattooing.

An exciting new project is happening soon at Latcham Art Centre! 💭

Over 2.5 days in September, eighteen seniors will gather at Latcham Art Centre to explore their creativity and challenge stereotypes while re-connecting with different aspects of their identities, past, present, and future.

The results of this project will be on display in the Stouffville Library and Municipal Offices until February 2027.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening reception of Meera Sethi’s solo exhibition “Facing Material" 🧵

We had a wonderful evening with many supporters, friends, and family in attendance to explore the powerful work of Meera Sethi and the deep meaning that is embedded across her installations, paintings, drawings, and tape-based “Draweaves”.

Many thanks to Meera, for sharing her work with our community and inviting us to consider the interconnections of labour, craft, and community present in her work.

Don’t miss “Facing Material” a solo exhibition by Meera Sethi opening September 16th 🎨

In “Facing Material”, Meera Sethi asks us to consider what it means to make contact with material as a carrier of history, memory, place, grief, and resilience.

Across a range of media, Sethi’s methodology of deep investigation into cloth takes us from playful surface ornamentation into interrogations that reveal themes of connection, labour, craft, and community.

“Facing Material” includes "Outerwhere", Sethi’s soft sculpture installation comprised of a circle of 12 embellished winter coats that embody collective diasporic South Asian imaginaries alongside personal recollections.

By reframing textile as mode and metaphor of communication, Sethi focuses our attention toward interlaced narratives.
