Ultramarine
June 4 - 29
Opening reception: June 6, 2 - 4 pm
Artist Talk: 2:30 pm

In this series of paintings, freighters and container ships create abstract forms in their reflections, framed and accented in ultramarine blue. Following the tradition of maritime art, the ships themselves hold as much focus as the sea and the sky surrounding them. It is the interaction between the industrial and the natural which creates the distinct forms, colours and perspectives in this body of work.

The work of Deniz Altug suggests atmospheric, non-literal spaces shaped by organic clusters, branching forms, and a sense of expansion. Through this evolving process, the artist explores contrasts that feel alive — energy and calm, expansion and restraint — allowing each painting to arrive at its own internal balance.

This intricate oil painting by Crystal Rassi explores the concept of creation of a safe and warm space. Architecture can be appreciated in different ways, from a remarkable feat of architecture created by small creatures to human built structures. Often invisible but powerful connection to nature brings magic and uniqueness into spaces we create for ourselves.

Ultramarine
June 4 - 28

Ultramarine, meaning “beyond the sea” in Latin, is the name for the blue pigment derived from lapis lazuli dating back to the 6th century. Often used in religious art for the robes of the Virgin Mary, its modern synthetic version still conveys the deeply spiritual quality of this blue, the blue of the sea and the sky.
