Heads up! Temporary closures are happening at the Science Centre while Harbourfront Centre carries out planned maintenance and efficiency upgrades across their campus.

October 5 – 19 – Harbourfront Centre maintenance underway. Ontario Science Centre including KidSpark, Innovation Station and Space Deck are closed to the public.

October 20 – 23 – KidSpark and Innovation Station reopen with special admission of only $10 per person; Space Deck reopens on Oct. 24.

Let’s hear it for Canadian Space Agency’s Joshua Kutryk! 🙌🇨🇦

Launching this morning at 11:10 a.m. (ET), Joshua is traveling to the ISS as a member of Crew 13, and we’re so excited to have another Canadian heading to space this year! According to the CSA, the crew will spend approximately 6 months aboard the space station conducting “science experiments and technology demonstrations” that will “help improve our quality of life on Earth”.

Fun fact: This will be the CSA’s fourth long-duration mission to the station! We can’t wait to hear more about Joshua’s time aboard the ISS.🍁

What can you discover when you get an up-close look at the natural world?

On Thursday, October 1, the Ontario Science Centre is bringing its Biodiversity Touch Tables to The Children’s Garden, giving children and families the opportunity to get hands-on with real plant and animal samples and specimens!

What can a specimen tell us about where an animal lives? What makes one species different from another? How are plants, animals, insects, and their habitats connected?

Our young Nature Detectives will be encouraged to look closely, ask questions, compare what they see, and discover the details scientists use to better understand the living world around us.

And yes, there will be plenty of native and non-native species to explore!

This is another hands-on experience the Ontario Science Centre is bringing to The Children’s Garden for our final TD Bio Spotlight Session of the season.

We had an amazing time learning about the contributions of Black scientists, artists, entrepreneurs and other inspiring individuals in STEM.
