The daughter of QOR D-Day veteran Captain Robert W Barker and her son display a collar badge belonging to her great-uncle, Lieutenant-Colonel Rybert Kent Barker, during a visit to the QOR Museum at Casa Loma in July 2026. Rybert Barker was Captain of "C" (Toronto) Company of the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry mobilized for service in the South African, or Boer, War. More than 50 men from the Queen’s Own, including Rybert Barker, served during the war, 1899-1902. The family also donated a chocolate bar sent home by Rybert Barker that was gifted to the soldiers by Queen Victoria.

Excerpt from the 21 Sep 1921 Regimental Orders:
"No, 4 Intoxicating Liquor
All concerned are reminded that the Ontario Temperance Act applies within Military property in this Province. There must be no traffic in or possession of intoxicating liquor, within the meaning
of the Act, by Messes, Canteens, and individuals in Barracks, Armouries, and Camps, contrary to the provisions of the said statute."

Yesterday our amazing Volunteer team spent the day remounting our framed medal groupings in our Rifleman room.

A fresh coat of paint was put into the room so we had to take all of the frames down and then once dry put them all back up! They were also put back in a more organized fashion!

Thank you team they look fantastic!
