The BMPL is comprised of a Gallery, Library, Archive and Museum. At the time of the establishment of BMPL in 1995 and the opening of L.E. Shore in 1996, the organization was an early trail blazer of the GLAM by including a gallery within the building. In 2016 the Board and TBM further established the organization as a GLAM when the Craigleith Heritage Depot community museum became a part of the BMPL.

Join death doula Bryonie Wise for the monthly Death Café Book Club, a welcoming space to explore books and have open, thoughtful conversations about death, dying, grief and life. Meets monthly, on the last Wednesday from 4-6pm at L.E. Shore Library. Books are available with a valid library card.

Join us for The Blue Pen, a welcoming monthly writing group where creativity comes first! Through fun prompts, writing exercises, and friendly conversation, you'll have the chance to explore new ideas, get creative, and put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard!).

No pressure, no expectations. Just bring your favourite pen, notebook, or laptop and an open mind.

This November, The Gallery at L.E. Shore invites you to slow down and reconnect with the natural world through a collaborative exhibition by artists Robin Kingsburgh and Maija Zemitis.

Inspired by the forms, textures and rhythms of nature, their work offers a moment of stillness and reflection in an increasingly busy world.

Two sessions:

Come meet current Board members and learn more about what it’s like to serve on the Blue Mountains Public Library Board. We’ll talk about what the Board does, what the commitment looks like, and how to apply, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and hear firsthand about the Board experience.

Key Dates:
October 28 — Applications open
November 18 — Application deadline
November 19 — Applications provided to the Selection Committee
November 23–26 — Selection Committee review and interviews, if required
November 30 — Special Council meeting to consider recommendations and provide direction; selected applicants then proceed to reference checks
December 14 — Council appointment of selected applicants, pending satisfactory reference checks
