Say hello to Maia Godin, who has taken on a new role as Collections & Exhibition Support for Stones 'N Bones Museum!

Maia is no stranger to Stones ‘N Bones Museum. After several years working and volunteering here, she’s now taking on the not-so-small task of cataloguing the entire collection and packing it for the move to our future museum space at Sarnia Library.

And when your job involves fossils, minerals, bones and all kinds of curious objects, a BA in Biological Anthropology, Archaeology and Geology certainly comes in handy!

Maia also brings three summers of experience from Lambton Heritage Museum, where she greeted visitors, helped with museum collections, interpretation and object identification.

There’s a big move ahead, and we’re very happy to have Maia on the job.

This project is about more than building a new museum.

It's an opportunity to rethink how one of our community's busiest cultural spaces can bring people together.

The redevelopment of Sarnia Library will create a permanent new home for the Stones ’N Bones Museum while renewing library spaces for children and families, creativity, local history, learning and community connection.

The result will bring museum and library experiences together under one roof - creating more reasons to visit, explore and discover.

A new chapter for Stones ’N Bones Museum and Sarnia Library begins today. This morning, the County of Lambton officially launched a $3.5 million community fundraising campaign to support the future Stones ’N Bones Museum and transformation of Sarnia Library.

The campaign is already off to an incredible start, with the Judith & Norman Alix Foundation contributing $500,000 as Premier Sponsor. In recognition of this significant gift, the revitalized children's library will be named the Judith & Norman Alix Foundation Children's Library. LCLibrary

Today's announcement also offered the first look at early concepts for the new museum and renovated library - the future home of the remarkable natural history collection generously donated by Allison and Jim Richards.

Now we're inviting the community to be part of what comes next.

A new chapter for Stones ’N Bones Museum begins.

For decades, Allison and Jim Richards built Stones ’N Bones into a place of curiosity, discovery and wonder, sharing an extraordinary collection with generations of visitors from Sarnia-Lambton and beyond.

Now, that legacy is beginning a new chapter. Through the generous donation of the Stones ’N Bones collection to the County of Lambton, Allison is helping ensure that the collection she and Jim spent a lifetime building will remain in our community and continue to inspire future generations.

As Stones ’N Bones transitions from its longtime home, this page will begin to look a little different too.

We’ll be bringing you along as the collection is carefully documented, packed and prepared for its future home at Sarnia Library - sharing stories from the collection, behind-the-scenes moments, and updates about what comes next.

To everyone who has visited, followed and supported Stones ’N Bones over the years - thank you for being part of its story.

We can’t wait to show you what’s next!

As we zip up our hoodies one final time, we want to say one thing above all else:

For every visit, every field trip, every birthday, every volunteer hour, every donation, every shared memory, and every child whose eyes lit up with wonder as they discovered something new.

You helped make Stones 'N Bones Museum what it became.

You have been instrumental in helping shape this vision. Jim and Allison Richards always saw the opportunity for Stones 'N Bones Museum to be bigger than it is, and now the torch is being passed on to the County of Lambton to help see this vision come through.

The fossils, feathers, and stories may be leaving these walls, but we hope the wonder never leaves you. Thank you for exploring with us. Keep looking closer, keep asking questions, and keep finding magic in the world around you.
