Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery

When the historic Thom Building was transformed into the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery in 2012, the facility was designed to meet strict "Category A" museum standards. The vault features precise, continuous environmental controls—regulating humidity, temperature, and light levels—allowing the gallery to safely store and preserve national treasures.
Because galleries typically display only a fraction of their artwork at a given time, the majority of the permanent collection—consisting of over 1,400 works of Canadian art—is stored in this secure vault on specially designed rolling storage racks.

Changeover is underway at the JNAAG! ✨

There’s something incredibly special about having artists on-site and involved in the installation of their exhibition. Grahame Lynch and Colleen Schindler have been developing this exhibition over several years, inspired by multiple residencies and experiences along the way.

Their works explore how art can become a repository for fleeting experiences and emotions—preserving moments in tangible forms that continue to resonate long after they’ve passed.
