The largest public gallery in Durham region, the RMG occupies an inspired 36,000 square foot building designed by world-renowned architect Arthur Erickson. Featuring a Permanent Collection of over 4000 works of art, four galleries of diverse & changing exhibitions, vibrant programmes, Arthur’s on the 4th, gallery shop, library, and two art & education studios, the RMG is located in downtown Oshawa beside the main library and City Hall. Posts and comments that are offensive, derogatory and defamatory (not limited to: racist, sexist, threatening, insulting, unlawful, or threatening to privacy) will be removed from RMG channels at the discretion of the Manager of Marketing and Communications.

Which visitor are you?

The RMG Youth Arts Action Council (YAAC) has taken shape!

Throughout the summer we welcomed a group of youth to connect with one another and our community through art, creativity and action.

The YAAC has been attentive to their own visitor habits, and hope to see fellow teens stop by for a visit to find out which type of visitor they relate to.

Join us for an upcoming Family Sunday!

This monthly, free, drop-in program offers families an opportunity to get creative together, explore the RMG exhibitions and make lasting memories. Suitable to ages 3+, each participant is encouraged to express themselves through guided art-making and will take home their unique masterpiece to display proudly.

On October 18, drop in from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, where we'll welcome exhibiting artist Lana Yuan to share insight and a hands-on activity connecting us to her current exhibition Restructuring Echoes. We will also create abstract mosaic collages, using black paper as our background to make the colours POP!

📣 The RMG x LRCAS Call to Artists has an extended deadline.

Submission deadline extended to October 13, 2026.

We are seeking proposals from artists to create a series of three collaborative banners.

The artwork should reflect the positive, restorative and healing effects of art. Inspired by the project slogan "Art Wellness. Creativity as Care." We are open and excited for any artistic interpretation of that theme.

The banners will be used during outreach events with The Mobile Art Hive and placed on an exterior wall of The Robert McLaughlin Gallery during the duration of the project cycle.

Within the email, please include:
- Your full name and artist name (if different)
- Your full package as one PDF shared via google drive.

Your package should include:
- Artist bio
- Resume
- A short statement (max. 500 words) about what art and wellbeing mean to you
- 2-3 samples of your previous work
- Your art proposal for the banner design and combined logo

Join us for a virtual panel discussion on the history and future of IMAX cinema with special guest, astronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar.

Join us to celebrate a new exhibition!

On October 18, artist Lana Yuan will join us to provide further insight and inspiration behind new artworks in the exhibition Lana Yuan: Restructuring Echoes that were developed in our residency studio. In the morning, Yuan will instruct a drop-in art workshop at our Family Sunday event. In the afternoon, enjoy refreshments and an artist talk to learn more about the exhibition.

In this exhibition, Lana Yuan shares new work inspired by her interest in the built environment and digital fabrication technologies. Oshawa is a suburban region well known for its industrial history, as well as its watershed landscape. The forests, swamps, and creeks flowing to Lake Ontario are as integral to the city’s social, cultural, and economic character as are the architectures dedicated to its manufacturing and energy sectors. Restructuring Echoes is the outcome of Yuan’s exploration of these natural and industrial features as an artist in residence. Using parametric design processes and 3D printers, Yuan transforms statistical data into seemingly abstract forms, exploring how sculptures can visualize municipal data related to population distribution and industrial land use in Oshawa. 🎉 Last weekend we celebrated the opening of Zoe Ann Cardinal Cire: In Plains Air!

Thank you to all who joined us, including the artist Zoe Ann Cardinal Cire (), and curator Leila Timmins. Cardinal Cire and Timmins took us on a guided-tour, delving into the themes, materials and intentions of the fresh new artworks on display in the exhibition.

Thank you to special guest, Councillor Jake Kozlinsky of Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation () for joining us, and delivering an impactful welcome speech, grounding our space.
