On September 28th, the community gathered at the museum for an evening of reflection, remembrance, learning, and community.
We extend a big thank you to Elder Mary Lou Smoke for sharing her teachings, story, and song and drumming. It started us off in a good way.
We also extend our deep gratitude to Elder Cheryl Riley with daughters, Sarah and Ashley Riley, for sharing a deeply personal story of residential school and bringing healing with a jingle dress dance. We appreciate the courage it takes to share this journey with others.
We also want to warmly thank the artists of for concluding the evening in a hopeful tone by sharing their creativity with an interactive experience of connection, language and dance.
Thank you to everyone who came out to A Night of Reflection: In Honour of Truth and Reconciliation and for bringing your presence, your hearts, and a shared commitment to hope and healing as we listened, learned, and stood together to honour Indigenous residential and day school Survivors, their families and those who never made it home.
A special thank you to Dominos Pizza on Fanshawe Park Rd for donating pizza to help feed speakers, special guests, and volunteers.
