Installation is well underway for our Fall exhibition, the second volume of Argentine artist Celina Eceiza's serial exhibition, A material called Earth.
Volume 2: I will remember this body opens at MSVU Art Gallery on September 12, with a exhibition reception from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and an artist/curator talk and tour by Celina Eceiza and curator Sylvie Fortin beginning at 1:30 pm.

This is the last weekend to visit our summer exhibitions, George Bernard Jr: Light & Legacy and Allyson Mitchell: Brain Child. We are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-5 pm. Pictured: works by the late photographer, graphic designer and visual artist, George Bernard Jr., whose work documented and celebrated African Nova Scotian culture and community, faith and family traditions, activism and advocacy, and the beauty and serenity of the coastal landscape. Have you had a chance to visit MSVU Art Gallery's Summer exhibitions? Allyson Mitchell: Brain Child and George Bernard Jr.: Light & Legacy are both up until August 9. The Gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday, 12:00-5:00 pm - hope to see you soon!

Coming to the opening reception for Light & Legacy tomorrow? We are located on the main and second floors of the Seton Academic Centre, visible from the Bedford Highway.
Parking is free on the weekend! There are two accessible parking stalls in front of Seton, and lots to the left and right of the main campus entrance. If you park to the right, you will be closest to the Upper Gallery entrance, which will take you directly to the exhibition and reception. If you park to the left, you will be closest to the Seton main entrance; the Lower Gallery doors will be to your right, and you may access the Upper Gallery by stairs (to your right, or in the Gallery itself) or via an elevator down the hall.

MSVU Art Gallery is honoured to present 'Light & Legacy' - a collection of documentary and portrait photographs, paintings and drawings, and print materials by George 'Sonny' Bernard Jr. (1947-2025), the first professional photographer in the African Nova Scotian community. This exhibition attests to George Bernard Jr.'s deep commitment to family, community, and place, and celebrates his tremendous contributions to the African Nova Scotian collective archive.

Please join us on Saturday, June 20th, 1:00-3:00 pm to celebrate the opening of this important exhibition. During the reception, Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard will share some of the stories behind her husband's work. All are welcome to attend; light refreshments will be served.
