Good day,
I want to address something before it happens:
I was hired to photograph the mini-pow wow and pageant at PrideFest, and plan to do so as planned a couple of months ago.
I see so many people, organizations, and other entities pulling their support for Pridefest, people I know, love, and respect, due to police presence and heavy corporate involvement in Pride Fest.
I am and always will be an ally to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. And I share many of the concerns expressed to date towards police involvement.
As an Indigenous person, police and RCMP have historically and presently not been kind to me and my people.
I have offered my support by way of protection to my 2SLGBTQ+ "cuzzos" and that offer still stands to this day. I will stand by your side if you need it.
I do have a business to run, and a daughter to support as well.
So while I may be offering my services to Pride Fest, the mini-pow wow and pageant, please do not take it as I'm turning my back on you.
That is the furthest from the truth.
