Henry Cundall was the Second owner of Beaconsfield. He moved into the home in 1883 with his two sisters Millicent and Penelope along with their aunt.

Henry was an interesting multi-faceted character. He was very serious, concerned with business, the weather, and charitable endeavors of the Anglican church. He was a photographer, and an avid outdoorsman who loved music.

He also was an avid supporter of the Bog School, both financially and with his
time. He once painted the school himself with a friend in order to save money.

The Cundall's made Beaconsfield their home for 33 years until Henry's death in 1916.

Beaconsfield was built in 1877 for James and Edith Peake.

James took over his father's successful shipbuilding company and ran it along with his two brothers.

Edith was the daughter of a well-known island politician, Thomas Heath Haviland, a Father of Confederation who later became Lieutenant Governor.

During the construction of Beaconsfield, the Peake's were going into debt because how extravagant the house was, along with the decline of the shipbuilding industry. Due to these factors the Peake's went bankrupt after only living in the home for five years.
