Christine Trainor (b. 1967, Charlottetown PEI) is a painter, printmaker, papermaker and book artist. She is a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University as well as the Ontario College of Art and Design University. As t
he owner of HazelTree Press & Paper, a private press and handmade paper mill, Trainor's art practice has evolved to encompass intaglio, lithography, letterpress, papermaking, bookbinding and painting. Using landscape and materials as metaphor for human experience and history, she explores the light and atmosphere intrinsic to coastal regions. Trainor's work has been exhibited in over 60 solo and group shows, including national book arts shows and large solo painting exhibitions. Her work can be found in hundreds of public and private collections and has been the subject of documentary films. She has completed several public commissions, and has been the recipient of numerous awards.
