The Museum has attractive exhibits for all ages and is wheelchair accessible. Erected in 1872, the building which now houses the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum served the community

of Carleton Place as Town Hall and lock up until 1879, and as Victoria Public school until 1969. The museum is run by the Carleton Place and Beckwith Historical Society. Since 1979 the Historical Society has made an effort to preserve and promote the heritage of the communities of Carleton Place and Beckwith Township. Our members are united by a desire to conserve and share local history.

Gabi was this enthusiastic all summer long! During her time working with us this summer she attended festivals, greeted visitors, produced lots of social media content, cataloged artifacts and did many deep dives into Carleton Place history!
Thanks for a great summer Gabi!

Thanks Raven, for your hard work and creative contributions to the museum this summer! Eight weeks certainly flew by!

Tomorrow is the last day of Jason’s summer contract with us. We’ll miss his cheerfulness and enthusiasm but wish him well as he returns to Ottawa U. in September.
Jason is finishing up many months of cataloguing artifacts with this tartan scarf.

The scarf was presented to Mayor Wendy LeBlanc on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the twining of Carleton Place and Comrie, Scotland, held on the Ross Bridge on Saturday, August 18, 2012. The original twinning ceremony took place on the same bridge on August 1, 1992.
