North Lanark Regional Museum Experience this unique heritage through our diverse programs and events. The Historical Society is always looking for new members and volunteers!

The North Lanark Regional Museum tells the stories of the North Lanark region through the collection, preservation, and presentation of artefacts, culture, and local history. The North Lanark Regional Museum is owned and operated by the North Lanark Historical Society with the goal of collecting, preserving and displaying the history of Mississippi Mills. The museum features several exhibit spaces

including seasonal exhibits, permanent local history exhibits, and a pioneer log cabin. The museum is the perfect destination for families with young children, retirees and history buffs. The museum collection focuses on local history and includes: artefacts, photographs, documents and books. Our research library contains local history books, family histories and original copies of the Almonte Gazette. In addition, the Historical Society holds special events such as the Scottish Tea, Strawberry Social, Annual Heritage Dinner, and Guest Speakers at various times during the year. Individual memberships are $15 and Family memberships (same address) are $25. To become a member, please make cheques payable to the North Lanark Historical Society, Box 218, Almonte ON K0A 1A0. Make sure to include a return address, as all members will be issued a tax receipt.

Our new exhibit is up and just in time for Fall. In Memoriam: The History of Mourning and Funeral Practices in Mississippi Mills delves into the world of mortality in the 19th century. Be sure to stop in Monday - Saturday 10-3 for your chance to experience our new exhibit.

Swing by the museum to pick up some of our de-accesioned artifacts! All the objects in this images are available to be taken home by someone interested housing them. Items are free, and if we are unable to find a place for them, they will be recycled or destroyed. These objects will be available to be picked up during our open hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm both today - Saturday, August 15th and tomorrow - Sunday August 16th.

-Binoculars (semi-functional)
-Thermostat (non-functional)
-London Daily Sketch newspaper dated November 19-25, 1925
-A magazine about Queen Elizabeth II's coronation
-Various books about Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee
-4 boxes of the Statutes of Canada books
-An image of Queen Elizabeth II and King George VI on the 1939 Royal Tour in Ottawa
