If you’re looking for things to do in Caledon or an easy day trip from Toronto, this one’s been waiting 145 years for you. A historic stone mill on Shaw’s Creek, now home to working artist studios, galleries, and a café - one of Ontario’s hidden gems, an hour from the city and free to walk into.

Happy Canada Day from Alton Mill Arts Centre.

This 1881 heritage woolen mill in Caledon is home to over 30 Canadian artists and makers - painters, potters, jewellers, photographers, and sculptors - working in studios you can walk right into.

Today’s a good day to support Canadian-made. Spend the afternoon browsing working studios, pick up a piece from a local artist, and see where it’s actually made.
