Sesquicentennial

Sesquicentennial Part of the Art Walk of Tree Sculptures in the Town of Orangeville This sculpture depicts local landmarks in honour of Town's 150th birthday in 2013.

Some historical features and scenic attributes tell Orangeville's story in a special tree sculpture created for the Town's sesquicentennial. The large 12.3-foot sculpture highlights trees, rocks, and rivers at the top, with Orange Lawrence, the railroad, and the train station carved into one side of the sculpture. The other side of the piece features the mill and the Town Hall and cupola. A branch

, jutting out from the sculpture is a three-dimensional fish. The Orangeville 150th Birthday Steering Committee commissioned the sculpture, with funding from Heritage Canada. The sculpture, carved out of white pine, by artist Jim Menken of Mono, sits outside the Visitor Information Centre. The sculpture can be described as imposing and impressive given its size, detail, and significance.
