Headwaters Arts Headwaters Arts runs the Headwaters Gallery located in the historic Alton Mill Art Centre. Membership runs the calendar year but we always welcome new members.

Headwaters Arts is a not-for-profit organization consisting of artist and supporter members coming together to promote the art of our members through shows in our artist run gallery at the historic Alton Mill Art Centre in Alton, Ont. Our artists are a diverse group working in many mediums, at all different points on their creative paths and coming to art in many different ways. We are volunteer b

ased and member driven, creating and promoting approximately 10 shows per year the largest of which is our prestigious annual Fall festival Juried Show and Sale. Members have the opportunity to submit works to all member shows as well as apply to have their own show in several time slots available for that purpose. Join us for the 2026 Headwaters Arts Fall Festival Opening Soiree!

Be among the first to visit the Art Show and Sale, where you'll have the opportunity to explore and purchase over 70 works of art! The Soiree will also include music (TBA), hors d’oeuvres by Gregory’s, a cash bar with a selection of wine and beer, and a silent auction featuring a wide variety of offerings.

Most importantly, the artist awards will be announced and presented to the winners!

Our latest members' exhibit opens today in our Headwaters Gallery!

“I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?” -Henry Miller

Exploring this Miller quote, the Art of Abundance features a beautiful eclectic mix of landscapes, florals, abstraction, ceramics, and art created with recycled materials.

You're also invited to the Opening Reception on Saturday, August 8th from 1-3pm! Join us for an afternoon of experiencing wonderful art, chatting with the artists, and indulging our senses.

One week and a half countdown!

Headwaters Arts invites emerging, mid-career, and established artists in Ontario to apply to the 30th Annual Juried Fall Festival Art Show and Sale. The selected art works will be on display in the Headwaters Arts Gallery/Alton Mill Arts Centre from Sept. 16–Oct. 4, 2026.

Over $2000 in prizes will be awarded!

Submission deadline: Aug 10, 2026 at midnight

Please read the guidelines carefully prior to submitting, as some new parameters have been added this year (e.g. maximum sizes and minimum prices). All guidelines, plus the application form, can be found on our website and in our bio!
