The Brant Historical Society's Speakers Series returns next week!

Join us at the Brant Museum & Archives on Wednesday, October 21st for Murray Angus' presentation on "The Philanthropic Endeavors of Ignatius Cockshutt".

The Brant Historical Society is excited to announce our new exhibit "Opportunity Bloomed: The Dutch Community in Brantford/Brant" - opening on Saturday October 17th!

Join us at the Brant Museum and Archives at 12:00pm for the opening of the exhibit, followed by a heritage walking tour at 1:00pm. At 2:30pm, there will be afternoon tea and pastries at the Research & Academic Centre West Building (150 Dalhousie St), followed by the showing of an original play - Herinnering "Remembrance" - at 3:00pm.

The exhibit will also be open from 10:00am - 3:00pm on Sunday, October 18th, with an additional showing of "Herinnering" at 1:00pm.

Join us for the Pauline Johnson Walk, and learn about her life while she called Brantford her home base (1875-1896). This walk begins at the Brant Museum and Archives (57 Charlotte Street).

The Brant Historical Society is offering THREE walking tours this week!

Join us tomorrow, Sept. 30th at 6:00pm for the Farringdon Burial Grounds Walk and learn about many notable Brantfordians that are buried there. This walk begins at the parking area of Farringdon Church.

On Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10:30am, join us for the Pauline Johnson Walk, and learn about her life while she called Brantford her home base (1875-1896). This walk begins at the Brant Museum and Archives.

On Monday, Oct. 5 at 4:30pm, join us for a repeat of the Historical Strands of West Brant Walk, which discusses different architectural aspects of West Brant. This walk begins at Sassy Britches Brewing Co., 111 Sherwood Drive Unit #4.

Walks are FREE for BHS members, and $10.00 for non-members. Call 519-752-2483 or email [email protected] to register.

The Sanderson Centre will open its doors for a free public open house this Friday, October 2, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the theatre’s revitalization and restoration. The celebration marks four decades since the sold-out October 2, 1986, reopening performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita.

Staff will lead behind-the-scenes tours, share memories, and answer questions while guests explore highlights and rarely seen areas of the historic theatre. Video tours will be available for areas that are not accessible. Tours will conclude on the main stage with a reception and light refreshments. This is a drop-in style event with the final tours beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Our today is a bit of a mystery - the only information we have is that it is a barn raising that took place in the County of Brant in the 1880's - 1890's. What do you think their stories were?

The Brant Historical Society is out for another adventure!

On the evening of September 25th we have reserved tickets at Whistling Gardens in Townsend to view the spectacular Festival of Fountains. Owner and mastermind behind the performance, Darren Heimbecker, has spent years composing and orchestrating a show of lights and fountains that dazzle and enchant. The show runs just over 50 minutes and has been described as magical, and a 10 out of 10!

Doors open at 6:00pm and guests are welcome to tour the extensive 22 acre gardens before the show begins shortly after sunset. The ticket grants you all day access to the gardens if you would like to come earlier, although the garden is closed from 5:00-6:00pm for set up.
