With "FABULUS", photographer Ludovic Sarmento opens the doors to his inner fabulations, images that unfold like enigmatic narratives, steeped in surrealism.
Each is a fiction born from the artist’s own mythology, yet the storytelling draws upon the collective unconscious.
This photographic series speaks the language of fables.
And, as with all fables, those told by Ludovic Sarmento are tinged with a striking blend of strangeness, sensuality, cruelty, and even some humor.
Glowing, as if born behind closed eyelids; slightly blurred, as though hesitant to fully reveal themselves, these imaginary images are nonetheless crafted in the most artisanal and tangible way.
A single light source, a set made of cut cardboard, pieces of string, and scraps of fabric. No filters, no retouching: the blur emerges from movement at the very instant of capture.
