What a nice day for a revolution!
Lucas Leffler — Solo show

On 30 June 2007, Kodak imploded the main building of Kodak Park and turned its own collapse into an advertising campaign, under the slogan Nice Day for a Revolution

Bleached Moment. A nod to the “Kodak moment”: Lucas Leffler chemically alters chromogenic prints taken from advertising archives. The colour burns, drips and dissolves, and the image sold as eternal reveals its fragility.

Ekta. after Kodak’s Ektachrome, lightboxes showing ruined interiors in inverted colours. The remains of the photographic industry become transparencies again.

See you this Saturday, for the opening of « What a Nice Day for a Revolution », Lucas Leffler’s second solo exhibition at the gallery!!
For this new body of work, Leffler continues his exploration of photography through material experimentation, recycling and low tech processes.
Drawing on historical processes, news stories and seemingly minor events, his hybrid photographic works bring together ecological concerns and speculative narratives, where primitive ruins meet post-technological imaginaries.

In parallel to the Lee-Bauwens Gallery exhibition, Lucas Leffler also exhibits in Hangar, Brussels, as one of the five laureates of the Belgian open call, shown alongside 15 projects commissioned by the French Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP), and part of the bicentenary of photography.

We are very pleased to announce “What a Nice Day for a Revolution!”, Lucas Leffler’s second solo exhibition at Lee-Bauwens Gallery.

On 30 June 2007, under glorious sunshine, Kodak imploded its factories in Rochester—just one day after the release of the first iPhone.
For his second solo exhibition at the gallery, Lucas Leffler takes this pivotal moment as the starting point for a new series of works exploring hybrid photographic techniques. Combining altered advertising archives, objects and documents with recycled technological waste, the exhibition reflects on the disruptive forces of technological change and the material traces that its ruins leave behind.

Final week — "Peaux Fragiles"!!!

Last chance to experience Peaux Fragiles, an exhibition bringing together 16 artists for whom paper is a site of inquiry rather than a simple medium.
At once support, skin, archive, and threshold, paper becomes a living surface—receiving, recording, erasing, and enduring—reflecting impermanence, trace, memory, and vulnerability.
Through gestures of inscription, accumulation, erasure, and transformation, the works reveal paper as a surface open to infinite possibilities while bearing the marks of time.

Artist Focus: Simon Schubert (b. 1976, Germany)

Simon Schubert tirelessly folds a single sheet of white paper until haunted architectural interiors emerge through light and relief alone. Devoid of human presence, these ghostly spaces transform absence into subject matter, while paper itself becomes the fragile skin of a vanished world.

Works by the artist are on display in the exhibition "Peaux Fragiles"!!!

Artist Focus: Gustavo Riego Maidana (b. 1983, lives and works in Paraguay)

Gustavo Riego Maidana inserts drawings of natural disasters into pages of stock market listings, using financial newspapers as a backdrop for what markets cannot measure. In One Empty Dollar—a hollowed-out banknote reduced to its skeletal structure—and a dollar bill locked inside a cage, currency becomes a specimen for observation. Capitalism is revealed as a silent disaster: not a force that destroys everything at once, but one that slowly erodes and empties from within.

These compelling works are currently featured in "Peaux Fragiles" !!!

Artist Focus: Chun Kwang Young ( (b. 1944, South Korea)

Chun Kwang Young wraps hundreds of small triangular forms in hanji—traditional Korean paper made from mulberry bark—sourced from ancient Korean, Chinese, and Japanese books. These delicate fragments, carrying traces of centuries-old inscriptions, come together in mesmerizing aggregations where harmony emerges from chaos, and the infinitely small connects with collective memory.
