ꜰʀ | Dans le Département des Pièges, Clémentine Deliss vous invite à étudier de près un assemblage inhabituel d’objets et de peintures. Nasses, collets, leurres et illusions visuelles jouent tous sur la notion de piège ou d’appât. Rarement exposés, ils proviennent des collections de 11 musées bruxellois très différents. Dans l’exposition, ils sont mis en regard d’œuvres d’artistes contemporain·es dont la pratique explore elle aussi la notion de piège, comme Guillaume Bijl, Kasper Bosmans, Laurent Dupont, Aline Bouvy, Pélagie Gbaguidi, Valérie Mannaerts, Miao Miao et bien d’autres.

ɴʟ | Met de tentoonstelling Département des Pièges nodigt Clémentine Deliss je uit om een reeks bijzondere objecten en schilderijen aandachtig te bestuderen. Het gaat om een reeks voorwerpen die zelden getoond worden en je op het verkeerde been zetten: lokazen, visnetten, boobytraps, trompe-l’oeils … allemaal valstrikken of "pièges". Ze zijn afkomstig uit de collecties van tien uiteenlopende Brusselse. Op hun beurt worden ze naast hedendaagse werken en prototypes van kunstenaars als Guillaume Bijl, Kasper Bosmans, Laurent Dupont, Aline Bouvy, Pélagie Gbaguidi, Otobong Nkanga, Valérie Mannaerts, Miao Miao en vele anderen geplaatst die eveneens de notie van vallen verkennen. These nets, snares, decoys and visual illusions all play on the concept of the trap or the lure. Rarely exhibited, they are loaned from the collections of ten Brussels museums. The diverse pieces are displayed alongside works by contemporary artists such as Guillaume Bijl, Kasper Bosmans, Laurent Dupont, Aline Bouvy, Pélagie Gbaguidi, Valérie Mannaerts, Miao Miao and many others whose practice also reflects on the idea of the trap. Non sans ironie, le duo dʹartistes Deborah Bowmann, le musicien Maoupa Mazzocchetti et vingt artistes résidant à Bruxelles posent la question à lʹendroit même où se dressait autrefois le premier luna-park de Bruxelles. Leur réponse prend la forme de NO SHOW, où art, lumière, son et performance fusionnent en une expérience se déployant tout au long de cinq pièces immersives. Ancré dans lʹesprit espiègle des lieux gérés par le tandem, NO SHOW est le projet le plus ambitieux de et à ce jour.

À travers des archives et des œuvres contemporaines dʹartistes comme Carrie Mae Weems, Frida Orupabo et Magdalene Odundo, lʹexposition célèbre les imaginations féminines Noires dans leur résistance à lʹalgorithme colonial.

ꜰʀ | Kanal, un lieu où il fait bon vivre. Huit ans après le début des rénovations du bâtiment et à quelques semaines de son ouverture, les architectes d'Atelier Kanal (EM2N, Sergison Bates architects, noAarchitecten) nous racontent le chemin parcouru.
Kanal montre comment l’architecture peut réinventer la typologie du musée, non seulement comme lieu dédié à l’art, mais aussi comme scène pour la ville et ses citoyens. Il ne représente pas l’état final de l’ancienne usine Citroën, mais une nouvelle étape de son existence: renouvelée sans être effacée, façonnée avec précision sans que tout soit prédéterminé, et ouverte à de nouvelles transformations.

Kanal laat zien hoe architectuur de museumtypologie opnieuw kan uitvinden: niet alleen als plek voor kunst, maar ook als podium voor de stad en haar burgers. Het is niet de eindtoestand van de voormalige Citroënfabriek, maar haar volgende gedaante: vernieuwd zonder uitgewist te zijn, met precisie vormgegeven zonder alles vast te leggen, en open voor verdere transformatie.

ᴇɴ | Kanal, A Great Good Place. Eight years after work began on the building’s renovation and just a few weeks before it opens, the architects at Atelier Kanal (EM2N, Sergison Bates Architects, noAarchitecten) reflect on their journey.
Kanal reveals how architecture can reinvent the museum typology, not only as a place for art, but as a stage for the city and its citizens. It is not the final state of the former Citroën factory, but its next condition: renewed without being erased, made precise without being overdetermined and open to continued transformation.
