The Vanhaerents Art Collection is a collection of contemporary art located in a former industrial building in the Dansaert district in Brussels.

The Vanhaerents Art Collection is a contemporary art collection founded by Belgian collector Walter Vanhaerents and his children, Els and Joost. Established in the 1970s, it has grown into a respected collection that reflects their passion for innovative and thought-provoking art. Housed in a repurposed industrial building in Brussels' Dansaert district, the collection showcases a diverse range of contemporary artworks, from painting and sculpture to installation, photography, and video, featuring both emerging and renowned artists. Current Presentation: Viewing Depot EXH #03 – Year of the Snake highlights recent acquisitions and key works that explore themes of oppression, freedom, and individuality. Spanning all three floors of the Vanhaerents Art Collection, the exhibition brings together large-scale works that blend aesthetic innovation with emotional intensity. A central highlight is Ai Weiwei’s installation Life Vest Snake (2019), alongside works by Alvaro Barrington, Ugo Rondinone, Gilbert & George, Tracey Emin, and many more.

For 2 days only, VanhaerentsArtCollection becomes the setting for the Ray-Ban Red Experience.

Join us on 31 July & 1 August, from 3 PM to 10 PM, for an immersive programme of contemporary art, live performances, music and the latest Ray-Ban experiences.

Admission is free, everyone is welcome

Please note that during these 2 days, the VanhaerentsArtColllection will not be accessible for regular visits, as the venue will be exclusively dedicated to the Ray-Ban Red Experience.

Before we disappear for a few weeks (17 July – 18 August), we wanted to share one last moment with you, a highlight.

Honestly, what a first half of the year. We've laughed, we've hosted, we've collaborated, we've welcomed the most wonderful groups through these doors. Seeing the breathe and connect with people the way it has lately... it means everything to us.

For our highlight of the year, we asked .be to take us back to the opening of Reflections on Breathing by — and watching this back still gives us chills, especially the project.

That Saturday in April was something else. The room was full, the energy was electric, and somewhere along the way the visitors stopped being an audience and became the artwork itself. One breath at a time, one blue line at a time — until the walls were covered in something none of us could have made alone. Add the benches that make you move, talk, interact — the mirrors that make the space feel endless — and you had a day that reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

Reflections on Breathing is still on view until 31 December 2026, by the way. Come add your line 🫁

We'll be back and ready for you on Saturday 22 August — our first visitor day of the new season.

TODAY — Live jazz at Vanhaerents Art Collection.

As part of Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend, we welcome One Frame Movement for two free sets — right inside the Jeppe Hein exhibition. This is happening today.

One Frame Movement is a contemporary jazz trio of keys, double bass and drums. Dynamic, colourful and unpredictable — they draw from electronic music, classical, indie and everything in between, stretching lyrical melodies into rhythmic soundscapes live in improvisation. After their debut EP and live EP BRUSQUE, DJ Lefto featured them on Jazz Cats 2. In 2026 the trio becomes Marijn Claeys (keys), Anton Lambert (double bass) and Orlan Ghekiere (drums).

We're curious to discover what they bring into the Jeppe Hein space — and you should be too.
