Join us tomorrow evening for the opening of
The Sun at Midnight

There is so much happening beneath the surface of Kelsey Ashe’s new body of work.

Created through an intricate process of screen printing, botanical inks, wax and photoluminescent pigments, these works are built up in layers - drawing on Kelsey’s experiences of moving through the Western Australian landscape at night.

From moonlit water and dark forests to celestial events, The Sun at Midnight invites us into a world where landscape feels alive, mysterious and constantly shifting.

Several pieces have already been acquired ahead of the official opening, so if one has caught your eye, we encourage you to visit the exhibition tomorrow or view the available works via our website.

For his latest body of work, Alan Muller turns his attention to the ever-changing beauty of Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) - a landscape of light, reflection and deep connection.

Basic Instructions Before Liquidating Earth explores our increasingly complicated relationship with technology, AI and digital culture, drawing on the nostalgia of analogue processes and mid-century Minimalism.

Zero Point Two Five brings together Corbett’s remarkable sculptural creatures, assembled from weathered steel, machinery and forgotten objects, each with a story and personality of its own.

Closer to Home - Samantha Dennison

Opening tomorrow at our Subiaco Side Gallery, Closer to Home brings together nine intimate still-life paintings and four ceramic sets by Albany/Kinjarling-based artist Samantha Dennison.

Inspired by the Torndirrup Peninsula and the comforts of home, the works pair vessels made from local clay and ash with familiar objects, garden cuttings and found forms. Following the 2024 bushfire across the Albany harbour, Samantha collected ash from the affected headland, incorporating it into the clay used to create the vessels depicted throughout the series.

Quiet, considered and deeply connected to place, Closer to Home is a beautiful reflection on memory, landscape and the objects that make a place feel like home.

For Kelsey Ashe, the stars have certainly aligned.

We’re thrilled to introduce Kelsey Ashe to the Linton & Kay audience, at a particularly exciting moment in her practice.

Fresh from receiving two awards at the 2026 Hadley’s Art Prize - the IAS Art Handlers’ Award and Hadley’s Residency Prize - Kelsey joins Linton & Kay with The Sun at Midnight, a captivating new body of work inspired by moonlit journeys through the Western Australian landscape.

These are works that reward a closer look. Layered, atmospheric and quietly mysterious, they sit somewhere between landscape, mythology, astronomy and dream.

And there’s something else waiting to be revealed when the lights go down…

The Sun at Midnight officially opens next Thursday, 3rd September at 6pm, at our Cottesloe Gallery.

ARTIST TALK THIS WEEKEND

After a very busy opening night for Jared Malton’s BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LIQUIDATING EARTH, join us this Saturday to hear Jared unpack the ideas behind his latest body of work.

Working across painting, sculpture and printmaking, Jared explores our increasingly complicated relationship with technology, digitalism and AI - alongside a growing nostalgia for analogue processes.

A new season of exhibitions is just around the corner…

Spring is shaping up to be a big one, with new exhibitions, fresh work and some very exciting artists joining us across Perth and Margaret River.

We begin with Samantha Dennison’s Closer to Home at Subiaco from 27th August. Then, on 2nd September, we will welcome Kelsey Ashe’s The Sun at Midnight to Cottesloe and Alan Muller’s Spirit of Place: Swan River to West Perth.

From mid-September, we will also welcome a retrospective of Brendon Darby’s work to West Perth, including his Listening to Paintings suite. While Kiara Rechichi-Baker’s Held by the Water will be on view at Cherubino Wines Cellar Door in Margaret River from September through November.

Then, on 30 September, Pippin Drysdale and Yvonne Rees-Pagh will come together at Cottesloe for Earth Gestures, a joint exhibition exploring their distinct approaches to the natural world.

James Corbett’s sculptures have a way of making you look twice.

Built from original vintage mechanical and found objects - from automotive parts and old machinery to cameras and other unexpected pieces - each sculpture brings together a collection of objects with their own history and character.

The fun is in looking closely and trying to work out what you’re actually looking at - and then noticing the personality and expression that somehow emerges from it all.

TONIGHT — MEET JAMES CORBETT

Something special is happening at Subiaco tonight.

James Corbett has travelled to Perth to join us for the opening of ZERO POINT TWO FIVE — a new collection of sculptural works created from weathered steel, worn gears and forgotten machine parts.

And this isn’t just an opportunity to experience the work. James will be here to meet, chat and share insight into a practice spanning more than a quarter of a century.

From his beginnings in auto-recycling to becoming one of Australia’s most distinctive sculptors, James has spent 25 years transforming the overlooked and discarded into something full of character, movement and personality.

It’s a rare opportunity to meet the artist behind these remarkable creatures and hear the stories behind the materials, process and imagination that bring them to life.
