ROEBOURNE ARTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Building sustainable arts careers is at the heart of what we do. We're proud to have just wrapped up a fantastic two-day workshop at the Ngurin Centre in Roebourne with Mark Chapman, as part of our ongoing partnership with the Roebourne Arts Development Program (RADP).

Mark delivered workshops for Yinjabarndi and Ngarluma artists focusing on paper and pigment revolution; linen stretching and priming; and painting using mixed media on canvas and linen.

Our role as a key facilitator is to connect local Aboriginal art groups — like Cheeditha, Juluwarlu, and Yinjaa-Barni — with leading arts professionals. Through hands-on professional development and creating exhibition opportunities, we help empower artists to share their unique cultural stories with the world.

This initiative is all about fostering long-term creative and economic independence for artists in the Pilbara region. We are committed to supporting these vibrant art centres and the incredible talent they nurture.

CULTURAL TOURISM | LIGHTING THE SOUND

Kari Kola, the visionary light artist behind breathtaking illuminations of Stonehenge and the Eiffel Tower, is set to create his largest work yet – right here in Albany this March 2026.

'Lighting the Sound' will transform Albany’s coastline into a glowing spectacle inspired by the Menang plant, bloodroot. The installation will feature striking red beams, symbolising roots reaching toward the sky, connecting the land, water and sky in a celebration of Menang culture and history.

With over 750 LED lights and 12 powerful lasers, this world-first event will illuminate King George Sound and Princess Harbour like never before.
