BCFA presents a striking watercolour by Otto Pareroultja featuring the MacDonnell Ranges. Painted during the height of the Hermannsburg movement in Central Australia.

Otto Pareroultja worked alongside his brothers Reuben and Edwin at the Lutheran Hermannsburg Mission. Influenced by Albert Namatjira and Rex Battarbee, the Pareroultja brothers developed highly individual approaches to watercolour painting, distinguished by dynamic patterning, sinuous line work, and richly layered colour.

Demand for important works by Otto Pareroultja continue to grow, with recent auction results reflecting increasing institutional and collector interest. BCFA currently has this beautifully framed example available for acquisition at a price below current comparable market value.

BCFA is thrilled to announce the inclusion in our roster of internationally renowned, multimedia British artist Derek Ogbourne.

A graduate from the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, ‘Ogbourne is best known for his exhilarating, at times wildly physical works across all art forms, centred around an ongoing plot of big themes: life and death, vision, landscape, beauty and the sublime’ (Biennale of Sydney).

His installation ‘Land of Fovea’ is currently presented within the 25th Biennale of Sydney at the Ian Potter Gallery, Chau Chak Wing Museum, University of Sydney.

BCFA congratulates Zoe Sernack on the inclusion of her work in the Salon des Refusés 2026.

Within ‘Dreaming Under The Same Moon’ Zoe tells a quiet, almost whispered story of shared landscape where memory and imagination intertwine.

On behalf of BCFA, our heartfelt thanks to all the team for an amazing fair, for your tireless support and incredibly warm welcome.

We certainly had ‘quality’ and ‘quantity’ in the engaged, enthusiastic and receptive visitors who attended.

To our two superb exhibiting artists and you made our BCFA booth absolutely shine. The admiration for your work from so many collectors and art enthusiasts was phenomenal. You both truly established a significant cross-Tasman exchange.
My deepest gratitude to you both.

A personal career highlight for me.
Thank you Aotearoa.

Gabby Malpas, a Chinese "transracial" adoptee, raised by white parents in New Zealand, experiences racism through a white lens. Reclaiming her cultural heritage later in life, Malpas moved to Australia as an activist addressing cultural identity, racism and immigration.

Graduating from the Otago Art School, Dunedin with a major in ceramics in 1986, Malpas has finally returned to this medium in recent bodies of work and within her presentation at home at Aotearoa Art Fair.

In a series of totems, Malpas considers and challenges the genre of chinoiserie within her own narrative, the stacked vessels taking a fascinating and often satirical hybrid form. Rich with ancient and contemporary iconography, Malpas pays homage to Hine-Nui-Te-Pō – (Great Woman of the Night) -the Māori goddess of death, night and the underworld (Rarohenga). Her ‘Unladylike Behaviour’ platters are also under glazed, wheel thrown and hand built and particularly reflect Malpas sharp wit and ironic social commentary.

Brenda Colahan Fine Art will present 'Quiet Activism' at the Aotearoa Art Fair, 30 April - 3 May, Viaduct Events Centre, Auckland.
