Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios is one of those places we are genuinely lucky to have in Lane CoveCove + Creative Studios is one of those places we are genuinely lucky to have in Lane Cove.

If you have never been to an exhibition there, put it on your list. It is so much more than a gallery — it is a creative hub for local artists, emerging artists, students, children, makers, potters, painters, textile artists and curious locals.

June is another busy month, with the final days of three current exhibitions, the launch of the inaugural Winter Salon, adult classes, winter school holiday workshops and an EOFY appeal to help support the gallery’s work.

✨ Now in the Sculpture Plinth ✨

We're delighted to present new ceramic works by Paige Hottwagner, the 2025 Recipient of the Gallery Lane Cove NAS Ceramic Award, developed right here in our ceramics studio at GLC+CS.

An emerging Sydney-based artist and Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from the National Art School, Paige's practice draws on botanical and microscopic form. That explore growth, transformation and the quiet complexity of natural systems.

Through wheel-throwing, hand-building and restrained glazing, her abstract vessels foreground form and structure as sites of conceptual and material inquiry.

Kookaburra's in Lane Cove are not such an unusual thing. But this is the first time they've appeared in this form.

Linda Blair, is the first artist on the plinth.

is a Sydney-based contemporary jewellery and object artist whose vibrant enamel works explore the expressive possibilities of liquid enamel in painterly ways. Drawn to its fluidity, colour and graphic potential, Linda continually pushes the material beyond traditional boundaries, creating bold pieces that blur the line between jewellery, object and miniature artwork.

Linda is one of the artists who was supported by recently refunded by both State and Federal governments, and now closing after 60+ years. Still feel so angry about this! Think may need some councilling....

Her work is on display until 28th May opposite , 164 Longueville Rd Lane Cove.

If you're a bird lover and passionate about creativity, this is not to be missed.

All the work is for sale and a list of works is available on my website under 'events' or contact the gallery for details.

Come along on 20th May, 6 – 8pm to celebrate the other exhibitions opening on the night (including work by and .art ) and wander across the road to check out Linda's work.

Saturday well spent at GLC+CS 🌿

Thank you to artist Jack Buckley for guiding our community through a beautiful Flowering Gum Thread Painting workshop. Covering common embroidery stitches, the basics of thread painting and how to build depth and detail in textile work, all centred on Australia's native flowering gums.

Lane Cove Council is seeking a graphic artist or designer to create the visual identity for the 2026 Lane Cove Festival, held in partnership with Sydney Fringe Festival.

This year’s theme, Made in Lane Cove, celebrates local creativity, connection and place. Your work will be showcased across the Lane Cove community and the wider Sydney Fringe platform, reaching audiences across the city.

💰 Commission: $2,500 AUD
📅 Applications close: 18 May 2026

There is still plenty happening at Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios this May.

From now until 6 June, three exhibitions are running side-by-side:
👉 Life and Beyond by Bruno Valente
👉 Light Moves by Szilvia György, Chris Packer and Liz Shreeve
👉 Water’s Awakening by Lane Cove local Clara Chiu

There is also a joint opening event on Wednesday 20 May from 6pm to 8pm, with drinks, conversation and a first look at the new shows.

A lovely excuse to pop into the gallery and see what local and contemporary artists are creating this month.
