Quirindi Village Miniature Railway

Quirindi Village Miniature Railway The 4th Sunday of the Month, Public Train Rides 10:00am to 1:00pm
Miniature train rides at the Quirindi Rural Heritage Village. This is for your safety.

Special occasion contact Jeff Webber - 0466 666 424. (Subject to volunteer availability) The Quirindi Rural Heritage Village (Village) formed in 1996, in 2006 two members who had miniature trains had to travel to Mudgee to operate them, they decided to see if there was an interest from other members of the Village to build a miniature railway track in the grounds. Construction commenced, by May 20

07 they had 500m of track but could only go out, turn the locomotive and back as a creek prevented a complete loop. By May 2008 they had built a bridge which was officially opened in May at the Village annual Rally. Today the track is 1200m long around a large water catchment area, consisting of an inverted figure 8 (two loops) and a tunnel. Quirindi Miniature Railway is situated within the grounds of Quirindi Rural Heritage Village, 3km from Quirindi on the Kamilaroi Highway, towards Gunnedah. A reminder to all visitors to the railway. Covered shoes are required when riding on the trains.

Today we seen another great improvement in which was rebuilding our main bridge. It was very well past its expiration date. Removed all the rotten timber and replace it with new timber and sleeper and ballast track.

Thank you to everyone for the hand. Was a great event.

🎃👻 Halloween is Back at Quirindi Rural Heritage Village & Quirindi Miniature Railway! 👻🎃

After the incredible success of last year’s Halloween Night Train Rides, we are thrilled to announce that we’re bringing the event back for Halloween 2026!

With the amazing support from our community that made last year’s event one of our biggest and most memorable, we are planning to make it even bigger, better, and spookier!

To make it all happen, we’re looking for volunteers to join us at both the Quirindi Rural Heritage Village and the Quirindi Miniature Railway. Whether you’d like to help with setup, decorating, running activities, assisting on the night, or helping pack up afterwards, we’d love to have you on the team.

🎃 We can’t wait to see you there… if you dare! 👻

At Quirindi Village Miniature Railway, we’re not just here to provide train rides for the public. On our non-running weekends, members come together to enjoy the hobby, operate their locomotives, and share their passion for miniature railways. Steam days are always a highlight, with members bringing their steam locomotives out for a day of running, learning, and camaraderie. It’s these behind-the-scenes weekends that keep the spirit of the railway alive and make QVMR more than just a place to ride trains—it’s a community of railway enthusiasts.

VOLUNTEER WEEK.
QVMR conducted Volunteer recognition on the 02 May 2026 during our 20th Birthday celebrations during the Rural Heritage Village Festival. QVMR would not exist if it had not been for the members (VOLUNTEERS) who came together in 2006 and commenced the building of the Miniature Railway. We have been able to collect the name of former members of the Association; there are some that are not with us. All members both past and presented have been or can be presented a certificate of appreciation. If you are a former member, please contact the Club by email [email protected] with your address and the certificate will be posted to you.

ALL Former members
QVMR is celebrating its 20th Birthday.
Our records identify 84 current and past members who have contributed to QVMR and the Village. There are 36 current members we are looking to contact former members; we are aware some former members are no longer with us.

Every person has contributed something that ensured the continuation of the railway, be it planning, building, managing, operating or maintaining the miniature railway.

At the 2026 Quirindi Rural Heritage Village Festival we would like to catch up with those that paved the way enabling the club to be what it is today.

If you can get to the Festival on Saturday, the 02 May 26 for 8:30 am - 10:00 am. We would be pleased to catch up with you and have you join in with celebrations.

Irrespective of being able to attend we would like you to register so we can update our records of your contribution.

Please complete the form via the QR code or contact us at [email protected].
