Quirindi Village Miniature Railway

Quirindi Village Miniature Railway Construction commenced, by May 2007 they had 500m of track but could only go out, turn the locomotive and back as a creek prevented a complete loop.

Train Coordinator-Jeff Webber - 0466 666 424. The Quirindi Rural Heritage Village (Village) formed in 1996, in 2006 two members who had miniature trains had to travel to Mudgee to operate them, they decided to see if there was an interest from other members of the Village to

build a miniature railway track in the grounds. By May 2008 they had built a bridge which was officially opened in May at the Village annual Rally. Today the track is 1200m long around a large water catchment area, consisting of an inverted figure 8 (two loops) and a tunnel. Quirindi Miniature Railway is situated within the grounds of Quirindi Rural Heritage Village, 3km from Quirindi on the Kamilaroi Highway, towards Gunnedah. A reminder to all visitors to the railway. Covered shoes are required when riding on the trains. This is for your safety.

VOLUNTEER WEEK.
QVMR conducted Volunteer recognition on the 02 May 2026 during our 20th Birthday celebrations during the Rural Heritage Village Festival. QVMR would not exist if it had not been for the members (VOLUNTEERS) who came together in 2006 and commenced the building of the Miniature Railway. We have been able to collect the name of former members of the Association; there are some that are not with us. All members both past and presented have been or can be presented a certificate of appreciation. If you are a former member, please contact the Club by email [email protected] with your address and the certificate will be posted to you.

ALL Former members
QVMR is celebrating its 20th Birthday.
Our records identify 84 current and past members who have contributed to QVMR and the Village. There are 36 current members we are looking to contact former members; we are aware some former members are no longer with us.

Every person has contributed something that ensured the continuation of the railway, be it planning, building, managing, operating or maintaining the miniature railway.

At the 2026 Quirindi Rural Heritage Village Festival we would like to catch up with those that paved the way enabling the club to be what it is today.

If you can get to the Festival on Saturday, the 02 May 26 for 8:30 am - 10:00 am. We would be pleased to catch up with you and have you join in with celebrations.

Irrespective of being able to attend we would like you to register so we can update our records of your contribution.

Please complete the form via the QR code or contact us at [email protected].

Over the weekend QVMR had some track work done on Hayden’s Corner. The track had suffered damage that caused a bit of a problem with derailments. So our crew jumped into action and pulled up the track, resurfaced the area, repaired the damaged section, new sleepers the laid track back down with ballast. It has been a successful repair. Well done team

The Team was back at it again finishing the last stages of the track work in the yard. Before and After.
We now have our Air and Water System in place for the steam bays, 2 new water columns, extra siding , 3 Electric loco Charging Siding/Bay. It’s definitely a big project but it’s a much needed improvement. Especially making it easier on the Steamers.🚂🚂
