What a wonderful collection of photos, honouring past and present members of the Heritage Village committee. More volunteers are needed to keep it running and also maintaining all the exhibits, can you give an hour or two a month to help out.

Many of the districts families have been lifelong members, tireless workers & strong advocates for preserving the heritage of the Liverpool Plains. Quirindi Lions Club have always been very supportive of the Heritage Village. Some 22 years ago it was at a Lions meeting with the late Graham Clark as President, that the suggestion came up that there should be something done about preserving the historical items of the district which were leaving through clearing sales and scrap metal merchants.
A public meeting was then called by Liverpool Plains Shire Council and the Quirindi Lions, together with other interested members of the community, Quirindi Rural Heritage Village was born.
Like “Topsy” it has grown since then to become the premier tourist attraction for Quirindi and the Lions continue to support it by feeding the multitude at the annual rally, but also by individual membership.

Love Trains...then you will be delighted with the Norm Mitchell display.

Images & information about life in the early days. Explorers John Oxley, Allan Cunningham, Henry Dangar & Surveyor General Thomas Mitchell all travelled to the Quirindi region, home of the Kamilaroi people. The land was opened up by men seeking pasture for stock. George Loder's Quirindi station was taken up in1830. The first town site developed as a camping place for bullock teams & travellers, at the intersection of two creeks. An Inn & some huts were built in the 1840's. In 1856 a town plan was drawn up, but the town was not gazetted until 19 Feb 1884. The Liverpool Plains Home of the Kamilaroi people, incorporating Quirindi, Werris Creek, Willow Tree, Premer, Spring Ridge, Currabubula, Wallabadah, Pine Ridge, Mount Parry, Ardglen, Caroona, Walhallow, Tamarang, Colly Blue, Bundella, Yarraman, Blackville, Old Warrah & Piallaway. Strategically nestled in the foothills of the Liverpool Range. The rich black soil plains are a mosaic of colours displayed by the fields of sunflowers, sorghum, canola, corn, lucerne and wheat. The perfect backdrop whilst travelling through the picturesque hills, valleys and sweeping plains.

💛 125 YEARS OF VOLUNTEERS – THE HEART OF THE QUIRINDI SHOW 💛

For 125 years, the Quirindi Show has been built on something incredibly special, our volunteers.

Generation after generation, people have generously given their time, skills, knowledge and plenty of hard work to make sure our Show continues to be part of our community.

From the committee members and stewards, to those setting up, cleaning up, taking entries, preparing the grounds, helping exhibitors, organising events, working behind the scenes and doing the countless little jobs that often go unnoticed, every single volunteer plays a part.

Some volunteer for a day, some for years, and some families have been involved for generations. Whatever the contribution, it matters.

Quite simply, without our volunteers, there would be no Quirindi Show.

As we celebrate 125 Years on the Plains, we also celebrate 125 years of community spirit, friendship and people willing to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand.

To everyone who has volunteered in the past, everyone helping us today, and those who will carry our Show into the future, THANK YOU. ❤️
