Kent Street Gallery is an exhibition space located inside Victoria Park Centre for the Arts.

Gayle Mainstone has a collection of beautiful pastel landscapes showing in the Front Room at the moment, for ‘Paths We Shared: Pastel Landscapes of Western Australia’.

The gallery is open from 2-4pm Saturdays and Sundays for this show, as well as our usual weekday hours, running through until 27 October.

These works reflect the many places the artist and her late husband explored together during their retirement years - a celebration of travel, companionship, and the remarkable diversity of Western Australia’s natural environment.

We currently have an exhibition by Early Start Australia showing in the Main Gallery. ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ will run until 27 October.

Early Start Australia (East Victoria Park) supports individuals with developmental delays and variety of disabilities from early years to adulthood. 'Choose Your Own Adventure' is about celebrating individuality, curiosity, and the unique journeys we all take through life. Each artwork tells a different story—an adventure shaped by imagination, dreams, experiences, and possibilities.

‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ by Early Start Australia will be opening this Friday 9 October in the Main Gallery if you would like to come along, from 4.30pm-6.30pm.

'Choose Your Own Adventure' is about celebrating individuality, curiosity, and the unique journeys we all take through life. Each artwork tells a different story—an adventure shaped by imagination, dreams, experiences, and possibilities.

Early Start Australia (East Victoria Park) supports individuals with developmental delays and variety of disabilities from early years to adulthood, building a community where capacity is valued through many varied opportunities for
community participation.

Running until October 27.

Our next exhibition in the Front Room will be opening on the weekend if you would like to come along, for ‘Paths We Shared: Pastel Landscapes of Western Australia’ by Gayle Mainstone. The opening event will be held on Saturday 10 October, from 2-4pm.

The gallery will also be open from 2-4pm Saturdays and Sundays for this show, running through until 27 October.

This collection of pastel paintings reflects the many places the artist and her late husband explored together during their retirement years. From the rugged beauty of the Kimberley to the coastal splendour of Esperance, to the Mid-West and many other regional areas of Western Australia, each work captures not only a landscape but also a treasured memory.

These paintings are a celebration of travel, companionship, and the remarkable diversity of Western Australia’s natural environment.

‘Night of the Magpie’ is an exhibition exploring Australia’s unique culture, landscape, and the iconic flora, fauna, and symbols that have come to define our nation both at home and around the world. The exhibition, by the Create Connect artists, is open in the Main Gallery until October 6th.

The first painting pictured here is by Janine Noonan, Untitled, 2026.

The second is ‘6 Months of Us - A Collaboration in Sustainable Practice’, 2026: For six months the Create Connect artists and their support workers used up the remaining paint on a palette at the end of a session, by adding to this canvas, with no intention other than to make freely. This work is the result.

Congratulations to the artists and facilitators on another beautiful exhibition this year.

Lovely to have the works from the Vic Park Community Portrait Prize hanging in our Front Room gallery for a wee while. Come and check them out if you missed the Awards night at Victoria Park Community Centre - final few days are Monday to Wednesday next week, wrapping up September 30.

The prize welcomes those who live, work, play or have historical ties to the Vic Park area, to try their hand at portraiture to capture the faces, tales and diversity of our community.

Following a really lovely opening event last week, ‘Night of the Magpie’ is open in the Main Gallery until October 6th.

‘Night of the Magpie’ is an exhibition exploring Australia’s unique culture, landscape, and the iconic flora, fauna, and symbols that have come to define our nation both at home and around the world.

The artists attend the Create Connect visual art workshops - Create Connect is our long-standing visual art and music program for people living with disability. You can find out more about these workshops here: https://vicparkarts.org.au/createconnect/

The exhibition celebrates the artists’ work from the past year.

We also currently have the Victoria Park Community Centre () exhibiting the Vic Park Community Portrait Prize 2026 in the Front Room, until 30 September.

Join us for the combined opening event for this exhibition and 'Night of the Magpie', the annual Create Connect exhibition, on Friday 18 September, 5.00pm-7.00pm!

Our annual exhibition by the artists from the Create Connect program is opening this Friday 18 September, 5.00-7.00pm. We hope you might be able to come along to celebrate with us.

This exhibition ‘Night of the Magpie’ will open alongside the ‘Vic Park Community Portrait Prize’ exhibition, presented by the Victoria Park Community Centre.

‘Night of the Magpie’ is an exhibition exploring Australia’s unique culture, landscape, and the iconic flora, fauna, and symbols that have come to define our nation both at home and around the world.

As environmental threats continue to grow, the exhibition invites us to consider the future of these cherished icons. Will the landscapes, wildlife, and symbols that shape our national identity endure for generations to come, or are they becoming memories of a disappearing Australia?

The exhibition will run until October 6.
