Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the Motor Museum of Western Australia.

This National Volunteer Week, we proudly celebrate more than 80 dedicated volunteers who give their time across every day of the week, while also honouring those who have supported the Museum throughout the years.

From welcoming visitors at the front counter to maintaining our displays, supporting the Museum behind the scenes and at Board level, and helping create memorable experiences for our guests, their contribution is invaluable.
Their passion, knowledge, and generosity are what bring the museum to life.

And it’s not just us who appreciate them, our visitors do too!

National Volunteer Week is also the perfect time to recognise that ‘Your Year to Volunteer’ could be right now.

If you’d like to be part of a passionate team helping preserve and share Western Australia’s motoring history, we’d love to hear from you. Link in bio/comments.

2005 Yamaha R6 R46 - Valentino Rossi Editon

In 2005, Yamaha Launched the YZF-R6 Rossi R46, an exclusive new limited version of the R6 by Valentino Rossi, the world’s MotoGP Champion racer

Only 60 were made worldwide and all signed on the fuel tank by Rossi.

Rossi, with the help of its designer, created a motorcycle that incorporated several of his personal styling icons, such as a split paint job with the sun on one side and the moon on the other, with his famous 46 race number.

The specially designed motorcycle featured performance upgrades such as bigger throttle bodies, an improved fuel injection system, and revised intake funnels that offered a smoother, bigger powerband and more horsepower at 13,000 rpm.

As for the power figures, the motorcycle had at its core a 599cc four-stroke four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that provided an output power of 123 hp with a peak at 13,000 rpm and 69 Nm (51Ib-ft) of torque available at 12,000 rpm.

For suspension, the bike packed an adjustable 41mm inverted telescopic fork on the front and an adjustable piggyback shock absorber on the rear, while the braking performance was provided by two 310mm floating discs with radial-mounted four-piston calipers on the front wheel and one 220 mm disc with a single-piston caliper on the rear.
