Opening tonight at Atwell Gallery!

✨ Signals from Space ✨

Step into a world where science, nostalgia and imagination collide.

Signals from Space is the latest solo exhibition by PAWA Studio Coordinator and screen-print artist PJ James Bryans, exploring our enduring fascination with the unknown. Through a striking series of hand-pulled screenprints featuring UFOs, planets and spiral galaxies, James invites us to rediscover the curiosity and wonder that first drew us to look beyond the night sky.

Blending vintage space imagery, photographs of tree cross-sections, AI-assisted image generation and digital compositing, each work is transformed through the handmade process of screenprinting. The result is a captivating collection that moves between fact and fiction, memory and imagination.

Grounded in printmaking, James’ practice explores how fragments of childhood, nostalgia and the stories we carry shape the way we see the world today.

📅 Opening Night
Friday 24 July | 6.00pm

📍 Atwell House & Gallery
586 Canning Highway, Alfred Cove

🗓️ Exhibition Dates

☀️ At Atwell House, we’re proud to be home to an incredible group of artists who bring their own unique style, experience, and passion into every class. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing the teachers behind our Term 3 program and celebrating the creativity they share with our community.

🌲 Meet David Giles…

David lives and breathes art, creating with the intention of connecting with the heart. With a passion for both large-scale abstract works and intimate impressionist pieces, he brings more than twenty years of teaching and workshop facilitation experience to his classes. A multi-award-winning artist with over fifty solo exhibitions around the world, David is also the owner of two galleries in Fremantle, where he supports and represents a diverse community of artists.

🌅 Painting as Therapy invites students to explore painting as a powerful form of self-expression and personal reflection. Through guided projects including mystical seascapes, impressionistic landscapes, and expressive abstracts, students are encouraged to connect with their creativity in a relaxed and supportive environment. The focus is on the process as much as the finished artwork.
