Did a quick side trip to Combarro - a tiny, perfectly preserved village on the edge of the river/bay with a seafaring background. Had lunch in the tiniest old building we could find. Magic. Then back to it to face the mountain challenge at the last of the stage

In Poio, we stopped at the monastery to take in the 80metre long mozaic. And the cloisters were good too.

Leaving Pontevedra at first light this morning (8.30am), so we could get a good start on the Spiritual Variant section of the Camino (with its 600metre ascent).

Buskers out and playing violins, bagpipes (again!), tourists checking out the historic sites, pilgrims taking off on the next stage. Those clouds heavy on the surrounding hills. It was good to have a rest day here in Pontevedra

Pontevedra is lovely. And their hospital is great! I know this because Jen needed to have her big toe examined (infected, she has medication), and the hospital staff were incredibly efficient! Rest day tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get over my cold/hayfever/allergy/ whatever and Jen’s foot will have time to heal.
